  • Raptors Now #1 Off Rtg

So after a month without their leading scorer (uh oh, DeMar discussion alert!), the Raps have moved past Dallas for #1 Off Rtg in the league, which is pretty crazy. What are your thoughts on the offence after this stretch of games?

Our offense is hit and run shots mainly made by Lowry and Lou, they have been our splash brothers for the last month. I am not surprised, although, I will mention it again, these crazy shots they are making now may stop falling and we may get into losing streak, what would not be good for their confidence. They are living by fast breaks and 3pt line so far, it's fun basketball to watch.

So apparently, pound the rock term was used to improve our offense, not defense.. right?

The offense has looked very good recently. Immediately after DD's injury, KL/GV/Lou were really only looking to take shots and Lowry has done a much better job getting everyone involved while still getting his when needed. There is a lot more ball movement now than I remember at the start of the season. I wonder what will happen when DD comes back, cause they definitely could use him, but they end up playing a different way with him too.

It may also be because we have fundamentally sound, smart basketball players. Two assists from kyle last night stand out. Once he drove in but it looked like he had no fate other than to run into the midsection of Mozgov. Instead, he drops an over the shoulder pass to Amir. Amir had to reach for it with one hand but he got it because he has "soft hands" and he didn't give up on the play. At another point kyle was already in the air when he had a choice to make. And he didn't look like he was panicking at the time. He could have dropped it off to Amir at the side (I think) but someone covered him that left a lane to pass to Lou in the corner...where Lou hadn't yet but would arrive. If you get a chance to watch the play on a big screen, check out the look on Wilson Chandler's face as he thinks he smartly heads back to block a pass to Lou at the elbow, sees lowry throw the ball in another direction (looking like it will wind up in the crowd), only to find its way to a spot up basket for Lou. The look was priceless.

Lowry and to a lesser extent Lou and GV have been playmaking well, it's not just them shooting.

They make some nice highlight worthy plays, indeed. It's supposed to be like that if our PG is considered Eastern conf. mvp. I just emphasized it because, imo, many of their shots, really do look difficult and are not just open/semi contested shot attempts.

Kyle and Lou have been elite offensive players. PPat has been an excellent offensive player. Amir and TRoss have been good offensive players, Even JJ has been a plus offensively. Only Vasquez and JV are guys who play every night who pull the offensive numbers down and even Val is improving.

Not as surprising as it may seem to be #1,

Yeah. Anyone of the main guys can get hot and score 15-20 points a game. The depth of this team is incredible.

It also helps that Kyle Lowry is God.

85 players have attempted more than 90 3 pt shots this year.

Of those 85 players, Kyle Korver has been the best, shooting an amazing 51.5%.

Next best at 46.7%? Pat Patterson.

How has Ross not been mentioned?

In essentially 2 weeks of larger offensive responsibilities he has progressed so much. He is a step behind DD in terms of consistency, but imo is ahead already in handles, playmaking, flow and obviously shooting. Impressive

Nothing to see here. Just someone Masai plucked from Sacramento when he was pillaging. Just someone he was able to resign to a reasonable contract. What else would you expect?
