    We might need another one.
Jak is good and celebral, but not a bruiser.
Embiid is just pushing him around.
Gasol had all of those things, big, strong and smart.
Embiid pushes everyone around not named Marc Gasol, and Gasol is retired.

If we can find a generational defensive center like Gasol then sign me up, but that's pie in the sky stuff.

We can and absolutely should play Jak in the 4th. The FT's thing is way overblown. He attempted 2.8 FT per game and made 1.6 of them. So at worst he's costing us 2 whole points. Whoopdie doo.
Jak's got a +6 net rating in 4th Qs, we can definitely play him in the 4th.

But also he plays a lot in the 4th. Not enough, but it's not like we don't play him. There were a couple exception games but for the most part that hasn't been a limitation for the team.

Yeah this started with L2J throwing shade at Jak saying we traded for a C that can't play the 4th Q. Which is obviously not true.

The Jak trade was one of the better moves management has made recently. Probably the last thing I would criticize them for.

        • Not sure how I was criticizing management when I said picking up Jak was a win considering our options at C.

He played half the fourth quarter yesterday, in the most important game of the year, while OG, Siakam and Fred all played the full 12 mins. Barnes played 8 mins.

He logged zero 4th quarter mins in the previous 4 games in the 4th quarters for whatever reason. So 6 mins in total over a span of 5 games in the 4th quarter. Need to look at a bigger sample for sure, but that is what I could find posted on nba.com.

I'm happy with the Poeltl pick-up, but like I said on the day we signed him, he's not my first choice.

The last 4 games before yesterday.

            Blowout win.
Jak mysteriously disappeared. I thought he was hurt. No explanation.

            Blowout win.

Before those 4 games, Jak played in the 4th.... literally every game since we acquired him. And averages 6 MPG in the 4th, 6th on the team, 1 minute less than Fred and 1.5 minutes less than Pascal.

The entire argument rests on: Nick seemed to want to close small against Boston, and was wrong to do so.

            • Jak himself may not like playing a lot of minutes in a row. He is a big, and big people can get tired a lot quicker than smaller people.

He didn't get many minutes in San Antonio either (averaged 29mpg in 2022, 26.7mpg in 2021).

Yes, the team wants to close games going small which excludes playing our starting C in crunch time. My comment was was clearly a malicious attempt throw shade at Jak

I'm just saying the comment is based on a single pair of games that were VERY the exception rather than the rule since he got here.

I definitely see no malice in it, it's just not accurate.

                  • Need to cheer hard for Chicago and OKC to win tonight. Maybe we could get DeMar's daughter to show up to both games. Is cloning legal yet?

I think that OKC will beat the Wolves. Miami did not look great vs. Atlanta so no surprise if the Bulls beat the Heat as well.

                            • I know everybody is going to think it's because they are Canadian, but honestly I don't think there are any better choices for the draft at the position Toronto will likely draft than Leonard Miller and Zach Edey.

                              • Notable 13th picks: Kobe, Karl Malone, Donovan Mitchell, Booker, Zach Lavine, Tyler Herro, Jalen Rose, Richard Jefferson, Corey Magette, Markieff Morris, Olynyk, Chris Duarte, Our boy Ed Davis.

In the last 12 years; there are more hits than misses with this pick; hopefully this is a strong class. When there were misses they were generally weak drafts, there weren’t any notable players picked in the teens after this pick.
