  • Why all the talk about Raps trading OG or Pascal for Portland's pick? Only thing Raps have done to this point is indicate they are buyers.

It's all coming from the Blazers front office (who want to get an auction going) and wishful thinking Raptors fans (who want to do move on from this core & re-build). I don't any of it is coming from Masai & Bobby, who probably just want to re-sign everybody and hope that a new coach / new vibes will achieve a slightly better result. The standards have been lowered to getting into the playoff, so that's entirely possible.

Don't you have to have something to buy something ?

I for one who be pretty damm excited if our roster starting next year included Sharpe Scottie OG and the number 3 and 13 pick from this draft.

Hopefully, Masai will learn from Udoka dissing his “5th seed ceiling” roster publicly.

You either need to be a legit contender, or a team with young prospects and picks to generate what you said…. excitement.

Raptors are exactly where Masai said he’d never get caught…. in the middle. That eventually leads to apathy all around.

              Scoot, Sharpe, Scottie, OG, Jakob.
              That's solid.
Making the numbers work is harder with Portland though. I personally want Sharpe over Simmons, but someone like Simmons would have to come back for salary matching.

They most likely going to trade OG packaged with 13th to get win now player to help Pascal and Fred

I think it is most likely the Raps keep building. But if they see a star at the top of the draft they can nab, this is the sort of scenario where I could see them deviating from that plan.

Any team wanting OG would also be win-now and not wanting to give up a rotation player. That’s kind of what they learned at the trade deadline.

OG’s trade value is potentially lower now because the receiving team only gets 1 playoff run, then they have to pay him and negotiate with Klutch.

I posted the likely deals above. For Pascal, I would think probably both Sharpe and Simons come back. Could be Little and Simons instead. But yes, pretty much has to be Simons. If they want to trade #3 to the Raps but keep Simons, it's probably an OG trade rather than Pascal.

The whole point of trading for Siakam is to build a championship team so why would they trade their second best player and starting 2 guard?

If it happens it probably be something like :

Siakam to Portland for Nurkic, Little, and the 3rd ov pick.

Nurkic makes a lot more sense as the salary filler. He's not a defensive anchor and centers get played off the floor in the playoffs. He can be replaced for cheap.

Isn't that same situation with Pascal? You'll be giving up a lot of assets for player who needs ball in his hands and is up for max contract. And I don't think Portland thinks Pascal is taking them over the top.

It's still Fred's choice. We can't force him to play for Dallas if he opts out. And they want to bring Kyrie back. They already have their back court set.
Should have said if Kyrie leaves. Fred makes no sense there if Kyrie stays.

Fred will go where the money is. Dallas has no state income tax and can afford to pay him if Kyrie leaves.
