Portland please. Would be nice to watch Wemby live.
let's be honest, no one would get to watch wemby live if he went to portland.

anyhow he went to the team i most wanted him to go to if we couldn't get him.

also did anyone else think it was strange that windhorst was like "so how does it feel to be drafted by the spurs?" like 5 seconds after the lottery ended? i can't ever remember that happening, even in years where there's been a consensus number 1 pick. the team with that pick always plays coy and pretends like there's a possibility they may do something else with it, presumably to drive up trade value in case someone wants to make a godfather offer.

Even when hyping Wemby at the draft, Woj said he could be one of the best players in the league...in 3 years. And he's a unicorn's unicorn. Even the best rookies take time to contribute. Dame doesn't have that time to watch a kid mature. I think it might be on the table.
it's immaterial to your point, but that's not what woj said... he said that he talked to some executives who thought that wemby could be the best offensive player and the best defensive player in the entire league by year 3. so essentially, one of the very best players of all time by year 3 (how many players have simultaneously been the best on both ends of the floor? it's like turning into apex giannis by year 3).

i mean if that's who he'll turn out to be, he'll have a big impact from day one.

Why all the talk about Raps trading OG or Pascal for Portland's pick? Only thing Raps have done to this point is indicate they are buyers.
Because for salary purposes Portland HAS to send us Simons plus another player, most likely Little.

Simons, Little, and Scoot for Pascal is absolutely a buyers move in my opinion.

We get shooters we desperately need.
We get the guard depth we desperately need.
We get the players on value contracts we desperately need.
We remove the guy who plays Scottie's position and also can't shoot.

I think we'd be a better team post trade.

Hopefully, Masai will learn from Udoka dissing his “5th seed ceiling” roster publicly.

You either need to be a legit contender, or a team with young prospects and picks to generate what you said…. excitement.

Raptors are exactly where Masai said he’d never get caught…. in the middle. That eventually leads to apathy all around.
Give me the young exciting up and coming team with prospects and picks right now vs where we are.

They most likely going to trade OG packaged with 13th to get win now player to help Pascal and Fred
            Zero chance this happens.

Doesn't matter if they flame out or not. The Celtics have to trade Brown. He made the all NBA this year so he's eligible for the supermax. You're not going to be able to build a championship team if you're paying two players supermax especially if one of them is not really a supermax guy.
agree with this 1000%, although i sure hope they give supermaxes to both players. hell i'm not sure i'd be totally comfortable giving tatum a supermax with the new CBA rules, though i would end up doing so. (joker and giannis are the only two players that would be totally comfortable giving a supermax to at this stage of their careers. luka and tatum i would but be a little nervous about it deep down inside. everyone else ranges from a hard no to it makes me queasy to think about.)

i'd also like to state for the record that i want absolutely nothing to do with trading for jaylen brown

I posted the likely deals above. For Pascal, I would think probably both Sharpe and Simons come back. Could be Little and Simons instead. But yes, pretty much has to be Simons. If they want to trade #3 to the Raps but keep Simons, it's probably an OG trade rather than Pascal.
I don't think they include Sharpe. We're not getting Simons plus two top 7 picks for Pascal.

It's also not a deal breaker for me at all.

Little is a good shooter and great depth role player who is still young and could easily be better than Sharpe.

I mentioned this in the off season thread.. but I think Brown is going to Houston. And Harden will join him. Harden is only going to play with another co-star. Udoka/Brown is what makes that happen. And I think with a bit of desperation on Houston's part they end up giving Boston way too much like LAC did with OKC to get George to help sign Kawhi.

I'm getting queasy thinking about it.

                  • I'm also very down for a Pascal for Brown swap.

Brown fits with Scottie pretty damn well.

Houston won't have enough space to max out Harden and Brown.

Brown isn't a free agent.. he has a full year on his deal next year. So they can just trade for him. They can sign Harden outright.

Once they trade for Brown they get his bird rights and can then resign him by going over the cap.

What could Houston send Boston they would actually want?

If they lose Brown they need another star in return.

They're a finals contender they don't want draft picks.

When a star wants to leave you don't get equal return, ever. Houston has a bunch of prospects like Green, Sengun, Smith, Porter Jr and now the #4 pick in the draft. Boston's not getting anything better than what Houston can potentially offer for a guy that will leave in a year.

Plus its advantageous since Boston will have a better payroll with these cheaper prospects. And can buy time for them to age. It's not like Tatum is super old.

that makes quite a bit of sense. brown seems like he may not want to be there and i very much doubt boston want to pay him the SM, so trading him seems obvious and houston is a good candidate if they're trying to compete.

on one hand i think it's kind of crazy for houston to give up on their rebuild, but on the other i think they did a terrible job with it and don't like much of the talent they acquired with all their picks aside from sengun, so it kinda makes sense.

anyhow brown can go anywhere but toronto and i'll be happy

We would offer Pascal for Brown and Boston would much much much rather have Pascal.

That's just us. There will be other teams willing to swap a star for Brown.

Houston doesn't have anyone capable or replacing Browns production.
