Every NBA team needs a point guard.

Just like they need a center.

I found this on the draft workout tracker. Not much reported yet but more than nothing I suppose.

The known list of players to have worked out with the Raptors:
      • Maxwell Lewis, Pepperdine
      • Isaiah Miranda, NC State
I can't find any highlights of Miranda, but he's described as a "stretch 5". So, at least both can theoretically shoot. That's a good sign. I guess.

Lewis is a 6'7 wing scorer, so fits a need as well.

We need point guards that can hit a 3. So Banton, Flynn, and Dowtin don't count. If you're listing Scottie as a PG he can't hit a 3 either.

Fred is the closest thing we have to a PG right now. I'm not a fan but even I can admit that.

              • Markquis Nowell, Kansas State
              • DeAndre Williams, Memphis

so you dont need a point gurd u need someone that can hit a open 3 and defend the perimeter

                    Finally, some actual draft news.

Lewis looked pretty good when i was breifly keeping an eye on him through the college season. Seems like a reach at 13 though. Good shooter but looked like he couldn't create much for himself or others.

Never heard of Miranda so will need to look into him. Could Raps be looking to trade down or acquire an SRP?

Nowell is a sooooo short. Nice shooter and passer, really competitive and has a lot of intangibles but dude is short by college standards even.

Williams seems very raw. No way he's in the inth pick range.

                      • If we're looking at shorter players I hope they think about Marcus Sasser.

Nowell and Sasser are older players I think, so might be a bite more NBA ready. If Raps are interested they must be anticipating a trade or something that would garner an SRP.

Raps always do their due diligence at draft time. Which is smart. There is also the UDFA market and they've been using that a lot the last few years. Could give a kid a promise and their agent tells teams not to draft their player in the 2nd round.

But I like Sasser. I think he could be a homerun. Just too old which is why he's not going to be a lottery pick. But he could be the best guard in this draft. I like him more than Scoot. These older players always fall through the cracks and turn into gems.

                            • Bilal does feel like a Raptor type of player. But also feels like a Magic/Thunder type of player. Interesting that he has a potential promise already.

And Wasserman doesn't have Cason in his mock draft there which I found interesting. He had some back issues or something prop up and that could be an issue causing him to slide.

I would personally take Cason over Bilal but that's because I'm really hoping we get a guard in this draft.

                              • i keep thinking to myself cant people like lock on raptors see that you dont need a point guard when we already have 4 on the roster. the only thing i can think of is that they only know one style of basketball…drill the air out of the ball. like do you know you can run a pick and roll without the ball touching the floor? kyle lowry and gasol were more effective than when kyle did not drill into the pick but passed into it.

let fred walk we dont need to replace him our team becomes cheaper. if he was smart he would go to the spurs.
