And like DanH said, when we need him on a wing, we put him there because he is vresitile

raptors999 wrote: View PostDepends on whether its West/Milsap/LMA or Zbo defensively. He's more valuable stopping penetration than post up/ midrange. Offensively he can post up some 4 but more dangerous posting up small SF, guards. Next game versus Celtics he is better at the three defending Guards and SF then defending Sullinger and Zeller or whoever Celtics are using. I think Olynk is used as a 5 like Fry.

I love what's going on with our team right now. Adversity is needed, let's see how staff and players handle it. Our sugar-levels are still sky-high from last year.

Best part about JJ is he CAN be a PF, but he equally effective as a man defender in a perimeter threat. So, yeah, if their entire other team is penetrating, sure, putting him as the help defender at PF makes sense. But if there's one guy killing you out there, you are probably better off just letting JJ go out there and shut him down one on one. His versatility is his ultimate value - like Joey Graham, but he can actually, you know, play basketball.

Defensively his impact will be more noticeable at the 4 as well with his ability to step up on shooters/contain penetration/wreck havoc. As a SF teams can take him "hide" him on defense by decoying his man. Hard to do so with him guarding the 4 as they are incredibly important in many offenses for screening and are involved in a larger portion of the offense (increasing his overall role in the defense)

His post skills are amazing. Add his efficiency, defense, rebounding, speed, size, strength, ball handling, passing ability out of the high post and lack of 3pt shot... it really is the perfect position for him.
He can be the best PF off the bench in the league, and a guy who can step into a starting lineup in times of injury at that position because of his versatility.
However Casey would like to use him as a pigeon hole'd SF, but since he doesn't shoot corner threes doesn't play as much as he should.
NBA level head coaches need to be flexible and innovative to be truly successful in this league. Casey is neither of those

At First there was alan Anderson, then there was rudy gay, followed by John Salmons, And now Lou williams & GV. For some reason there is always that one guy Casey allows to brick the night away with no repercussions. I wonder what goes through his mind.
