No chance. He’s doubling down on a borderline all star and costing the raptors a lottery pick in an all-time draft. The asset management on the last two Spurs trades is terrible. Pascal is Brad Beal, and the Raptors are now the Wizards
Malaki Branham and Goran Dragic for Thad and Koloko is not a bad trade.

Birch and a protected 1st for Poeltl isn't a bad trade either.

Raps are undoubtedly going to try and win more games now, pushing themselves out of the lottery of this draft. Which is nuts
Unfortunately part of management’s job is to remove excuses and provide resources to employees to do their job. Not having a “real center” for rim protection was always going to be an excuse for why this core underperformed. The second & third excuses are more shooting and bench depth.

They were betting big-time on Nurse’s genius D schemes, elite shooting school and player development to be successful in all 3 areas. Welp. 3 strikes, yer out.

      • Masai has to take care of the too many mouths to feed situation, There’s one too many cooks in the kitchen. We need guys that are comfortable in their situations/roles, and don’t feel the need to score..: but can if needed. Poeltl is one of those guys, we need one or two more.

Pick isn't for this summer... Is 2024 the all time draft? I think the plan is to be good next year. And for that pick to be a much later pick. Here's hoping.

Spurs assets could've been managed better over the last two years, sure, but it is what it is and you can't go back in time.

I still like this Raps team a lot more than any iteration of any Wiz team, ever. I'm not into that assessment at all.

We'll see if they do anything further to balance out the roster. I could see them sending out OG before the day is through..

Either way, this team is already a lot deeper than they were, gets desperately needed rim protection, shields both Scottie and Pascal from having to slog it out at C.

I'm glad to see Jak back. To me, he brings most of what a Jarrett Allen brings. We need it.

And with the amount of talent I feel is on the roster, who knows, maybe we just need this kind of move to make things finally start to click.

Assuming the pick has good protection I like the Poeltl deal. We needed a good defensive center who is efficient on offense and we got one. His age fits our timeline perfectly. Scottie will never have to play center again, thank God. Poeltl will also resign for term at 20M per year which is solid.

I still want to see another deal. I do see the sense in resigning guys and trading them after that, but I'm also worried we get priced out of Fred and Gary in the offseason. Would rather trade them now.
There was no guarantee that we were in the lotto if we didn’t trade for Jak. We have a soft schedule coming up and currently have the second longest winning streak in the East. Tanking ain’t easy.

If they bring in more role players they need to make sure they the consolidate the scorers to upgrade our offense. We aren't getting anywhere if we improve the defense at the cost of the offense.

Better finish well better than 7th last next year then, and thereafter ...

                    • Lol those protections suck.. and our 2023 second rounder was going to be half decent.

                      • It also means we can't really trade picks 2024-2026 (and the 2027 pick) without changing the language to them. So hope it conveys next year.

As long as the players you bring in to contribute when needed, losing one of OG, Gary or Fred won’t affect the offence much. There’s room for the remaining players to step in to larger role.

Is there a pass first, defensive PG, that has a decent 3pt% out there? Because that’s a player we could use.

ya, not thrilled by that. Hopefully we are back in the 20’s next year.
