Trying to win with defense-first players is failing badly and I don’t know if it can ever work in a sport where offense gets paid. At least not in the regular season. You’re fighting against human nature.

It's not even defense-first players. Guys like Barnes and Banton aren't defense-first players. It's trying to win with 5 Pascal Siakams, except there aren't 5 Pascal Siakams in the NBA and, even if there were enough of them, it seems clear having 3-4 of them on the floor at once isn't really a winning formula.

I think it's a combination of we've accepted we're not contending this season and need to maximize our draft pick, and that we're gonna make trades and have zero reason to play guys that aren't 100%.
