  • Maybe also Bobby and Masai are really not after a full rebuild but a retooling based on what Windhorst reported.

    They may not necessarily be after tanking to get into the no.1 or no.2 spot. If they get lucky and get there so be it. But rather accumulate enough draft capital and find a lottery pick (BPA) who would pair with Scottie as the future of this franchise. One more to many increased their chances of landing a very decent piece.

    The reason why any deal would complement their best get in Scottie.

    Ayton if he is the target is a piece that could align with Scottie’s skillset.

      If they trade OG it better be a fire sale... Trent and FVV better be on the move too. If Fred wants a contract in the 30-35M range or higher he's gotta be moved. That kind of contract hamstrings a team, you can't overpay for his level of talent.

      I agree with Claw, any OG trade better should have a similar haul as Gobert.

      FVV = 2 firsts, or a first and a high second
      Gary = 100% a 20-30 first.
      OG = HAUL
      How does trading OG mean we should have a fire sale? He's a good player that plays a position which we have two other guys also able to play. And both those guys are higher on the ladder with this team. I'd be really surprised if OG could get you the type of assets which Utah received for Gobert. Those two are not on the same level.

        You combined both OG and VanVleet to maximize the return. IMO that is what Windhorst being a fly in the room is getting from whoever is his source

        • So they're looking for young players. You know who I want. I want Daniels or Sharpe. Would be nice to get both.

          • I think perhaps a 'dark horse' team, should OG be traded, would be OKC - while they're not looking at making a 'win now' mode - they've got a lot of picks in future drafts, in years that they think that they'll be 'good', so they might think including those assets at this point provide more value, than if they drafted themselves.

            (And no, I don't think it's likely that SGA would ever be dealt at this point)

              If Fred wants 30+, it's time to move... So I would like to see him go regardless. If Gary remains in that 20M range than great, but I think he needs to embrace that role off the bench.

              Any OG trade will net close to what the Jazz got... maybe not 5 picks but decent players and 3 firsts... We are loaded at the 2 way wing position, so we are taking it for granted but teams are starving for that type of player. Look at the last draft. Teams are valuing wings way more than 5's.

                Toronto was close to acquiring Deandre Ayton from Phoenix in a sign and trade last summer, according to a source. Perhaps there’s a deal to be made with the Suns, who are said to be one of Anunoby’s many suitors. Pacers centre Myles Turner – who just signed an extension but is still eligible to be traded – would also check off a few boxes as a shot-blocking, floor-spacing big man.

                But if that’s the path they decide to take, it might make more sense to wait until the off-season, when more players are available. The Raptors have no reason to rush an Anunoby trade. He’s under contract, and reports of any rift between him and the organization have been denied internally.

                  I don't know where you're getting this information from or how reliable it is. Gobert is a multiple time DPOY, and one of those guys that can anchor a defense even when surrounded by crappy defenders. OG is a really good defender, but he can't provide what Gobert does. Might all be mute anyways since the latest news (if you trust it) is saying Raps want young players more than picks.

                      OG makes less than half what Gobert makes. So even tho he's not quite on his level defensively, the cost savings has to increase OGs value.

                      OG also gives you a lot more offensively than Gobert, and his defensive versatility allows him to do a lot of stuff on defense that Gobert can't, like guarding opposing guards.

                        He's not going to be making half of what Gobert makes for long. That's what all the rumors about wanting a larger role on the offense is centered around...a bigger contract.

                        OG does provide more in terms of a two way player, but he doesn't have an All Star selection or DPOY to his name. He's never even received a vote for DPOY I don't think. I just don't see him as having as much value around the league.

                          Yeah, combining both OG and Fred will probably get you the type of haul Gobert got the Jazz. Not sure Raps are looking for that much change though. Would be sad if all this build up resulted in bubkes.

                              I disagree with the bolded. Half the league is rumored to really really want OG.

                              Barely anyone wanted Gobert and that monster contract. Minnesota was bidding against themselves and got played hard.
