No I'm not comparing OG's values to Norm's. I'm insinuating that when we hear half the league having interest it could be the Raptors creating those rumours to improve his trade stock.. just like we kept hearing about half the league being interested in Norm.. when we got a pretty meek return for him. Was that rumour legit back then or was it hogwash? Is it legit now or is that hogwash?

Either way a market isn't decided by 10 teams wanting one guy.. it's about that single team that will do whatever it takes to get the guy. Just like Minnesota being aggressive in bringing in Rudy Gobert. Can Masai find another Minnesota? If not then we're not getting the same return for OG that Utah got for Gobert.
Tampa tank year was a weak market for both buyers and sellers. The "interest" was basically tire kickers. This year has supposedly a lot of serious buyers and few sellers. That's a ripe market for us.

These just aren't comparable situations at all.

Norm was a bench player that would have nominal effect on your roster and won't cost much to retain in the future.

OG is a full time starter who will completely change the defensive identity of your starting roster. He will also cost a lot to retain.

I also do not remember anywhere near the amount of rumors of interest in Norm as I do OG.

Just a really silly comparison to make unless you're trying to insult OG.

You are clearly not understanding what I'm saying.

Maybe.. I don't know. We'll see what happens. There are always teams willing to buy to help win a championship. I don't think there is any more of a market now then that year. But again we will see.

2 things are different. 1) So many teams bunched up jockeying for playoff & play-in position this year. (2) Gobert/Mitchell trades re-set trade values in favor of sellers. I suspect there's a market correction to the bubble coming, but might as well take advantage of it while OG is the hottest commodity out there.

The problem is most of the teams that are contending don't have the assets to give to a seller that Utah got from Minnesota and Cleveland. Most of the top teams have given up all their picks already. So what's left are a few teams here and there that might make a move. But OG is not an all-star either. He's a good role player.. but still ultimately a role player.

                He gone....

OG Anunoby would reportedly 'embrace' a trade and has already told the Raptors as much

                https://ftw.usatoday.com/2023/02/nba...cans-grizzlies
From the horses mouth "Anunoby has said that he doesn’t want out of Toronto, and further reporting indicates that he has “no issue” playing for the organization"

You think that multiple teams wanting a player doesn't raise his trade value. I highly disagree with that.

                  • There are definitely more rumors around OG than there were about Norm, even going as far back to the off-season. Did the Raptors start those rumors back then? I'd say probably not, but who knows.

If I recall, that was said by him early in the season. Maybe he wanted a larger role, but was okay with his current role since the team was winning last season and expected the same this season. After all of this losing and disappointment so far this season, is he still okay with it? Probably not.

Except for a lot of the teams do have a bunch of picks.

Knicks, Pelicans, Grizzlies all have extra picks.

Most also have attractive younger players. We could build a satisfactory deal with any of them. If we get less picks we take back more or higher quality young players. A bidding war is upping his trade value.

Multiple teams will be trying to bid against each other, but ultimately every team but one will back off when the price gets too high. Especially if they have a good front office. It's the bad and desperate front offices that make mistakes. Is there a team with a bad front office that has interest in OG who is also really desperate? Like Minnesota was for Gobert?

If not then, we're not getting a haul for OG.

Knicks probably, especially with the rumor that they are willing to offer 3 FRPs for OG.

So the rumour back in the offseason was true. My question is, why is he not happy?

                              • No way Memphis is trading Jaren Jackson Jr. in a trade for OG.

Something like Aldama. Ziaire Williams and Danny Green works money wise. Add in a first round pick. Raptors would need to cut someone to make roster space. Dillon Brooks could be a guy Memphis would move for OG but I don't want him as a Raptor.
