He's objectively a great shot blocker at the NBA level. We've seen that. The numbers say that.

We don't need any offense from him, already way too many mouths to feed on offense. Which is a huge issue with the No center lineup we've started the majority of the season. FVV, Gary, Scottie, OG, Pascal all want shots.

Having a center only focused on defense and rebounding would be great. He just fouls too much to stay in the game at the moment.
I think if his hands got a bit better where he's a true lob threat/vertical spacer he can function perfectly well in our offence.

Why do you love it? Lakers don't have a pick until 2028 so where are these picks coming from? We get an expiring deal and 2 bad future picks for Fred. I'd much rather have Kyrie.
        Lol keep Kyrie away.

2 1sts are 2 1sts and with the lakers timeline and Lebron’s age those 2 picks could end up being a Tatum/Brown for Pierce/Garnett situation very very fast.

Also opens up about 35m in cap space if we’re matching salaries with guys like birch, Boucher and Flynn and then waiving Thad in the summer. 20-25m for Gary and we have 10-15m to pursue more shooting or a big. Might even be able to convince the lakers to throw in someone like Thomas Bryant who fits the bill (they don’t have his bird rights and will be hard pressed to sign him with Kyrie’s cap hold and Bron/AD on the books.

        • Eh actually lakers would still have the cap space actually. But rest of the point still stands.

Edit: they wouldn’t. Bron/Ad contracts and Kyrie’s cap hold alone is 130m. Add in Reaves/Rui/Christie/Bev (only guys they have bird rights on) and they’re way over the cap already.

So all they’re left with is the MLE and vet mins.

I don't think Lakers are even allowed to trade 2 picks. There is a limit on how far out into the future the picks can be.

There are much better deals out there for Fred.

              LOL JFC Kyrie
Sigh. This again? If you're an NBA team why would you want that guy on your team?

Yeah I think right now 2 is their limit. 2027 and 2029 are available iirc. Also have pick swaps available for 2026 and 2028.

yeah...every Laker trade proposal throughout the year (Turner/Hield etc) have been about the 2027 and 2029 picks

I am intrigued with Aldama. He just turned 22, is 6'11" shoots the 3 well and plays with nice pace. He's a stretch 4 right now but I can see him playing some 5 as he adds some weight.
Aldama's ok. Williams + Aldama + picks is definitely better than the Knicks offer though.

If the Pels are really in on this then they're the team. They have a lot of good young players.

                    • Pels are definitely the team.

The lakers picks, Daniels, Murphy, Herb, Graham

Lots of pieces I wouldn’t mind at all

                      • By memory, i think this is the first list we haven't been on since Kawhi was available

And on a 10-game losing streak. Could be a panic buyer who overpays.

Coincides with zion and Ingram being injured. Ingram’s back now and they’re only 2 games back from 4th luckily. After last year’s play-in and playoff series I’m sure their goal is to get back there with a healthy Zion. Seems like the perfect trade partner.

                            • Been dying to trade with NOP.

NOP/PHX/LAL and then to a lesser extent MEM/LAC

I really don’t see the appeal of ORL

                              • The kyrie stuff is actually really good for us. Nets need to compete and will have to replace kyrie with a championship pedrigee PG. Guess who has also been on record of loving Fred's game? Durant. Very possible fred to Nets, kyrie to a 3rd team in the west and we get to collect a bevy of assets from the other team.

If nets could bring in fred and a decent 3 and d guy for a dude who wants out anyways. The picks and young potential guys get routed to us.
