"Need" is a strong word. Losing your imperfect backup C/3rd string PF is not a huge blow.

Not that I'd complain about getting Taj Gibson...which would basically be like having consistent Amir back, at least defensively.

We'd just play more Hayes and maybe even some Bebe. I don't see a dropoff from TH to those two guys.

TH is a super high active defender.. Bebe is too raw and Hayes is too slow to roam to the perimeter. We would need a solid backup/starter to actually make a playoff push. Period.

But Taj is about 10 times the player Tyler is. Tyler isn't the difference between playoff success and failure, especially since rotations generally shorten in the playoffs so he'd likely get even less time.

Any reason to think Taj is available?
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

I clearly don't think as highly of TH as you do. But I hope Sacto has the same outlook on TH as you do. I don't consider TH a solid backup/starter. Is he really that much more mobile than Hayes? There might be a tiny dropoff but it shouldn't affect our playoff push. If Hansbrough is the difference maker we're screwed either way.

No, but he just threw that out there.

Taj is a great player, but you don't need a player nearly that good to replace Tyler's value to the team.

It would actually be hilarious if Sacto bit on Tyler....I mean, do you need him when you have Thompson, Landry and Evans? But whatever. Sacto's a mess. Nothing they do can really surprise anymore. Not after the Mike Malone firing.

I didn't even mention Taj because he'd take someone like Ross and future draft picks, maybe more. He's soooooo much better than Hansbrough.

TH is more mobile than Hayes, has surprisingly good feet. But both are limited specialists. Hayes is a good low post defender, but not much else, TH better perimeter defender.

Better perimeter D then Hayes? Could be right

So perfect solution, send out TH and whatever to grab Stauskas. Then send Ross and whatever to grab Taj. Then we get a younger version of korver (potentially) and upgrade out front court... Potentially making Amir and Taj interchangeable starters. DONE

Since when is Taj Gibson gettable? I see no reason the bulls make that trade this year. They want to win the chip now. And even if they did, Ross wouldn't be enough. Not sure what the '+ whatever' would be.

The knicks pick to start with, expirings....
They are going to max out Butler. They can't afford Taj

They'll worry about that in the offseason.
