  • USC freshman guard Bronny James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, is expected to return to the court "in the very near future" after suffering cardiac arrest during a workout in July, a family spokeswoman said in a statement Friday.

The likely cause of Bronny James' cardiac arrest was a congenital heart defect, which was identified after an initial evaluation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and follow-up evaluations at the Mayo Clinic and the Atlantic Health-Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey, according to the spokeswoman.
I suspect Lebron and wife knew about Bronny’s condition when he was still an infant. Usually a Congenital Heart Defect can be a combination of four heart defects (one of which is tetralogy of fallot or septal defects) diagnosed right after birth. They never thought that it would significantly impact Bronny’s overall health later in his life. The parents selfish dream of their son following the footsteps of his superstar dad may have really clouded their judgment. Bronny was fortunate to have survive the sudden cardiac arrest. Although they are just that there is still hope for Bronny down the road to play basketball but slimmer chance for Bronny to be a professional basketball player. Huge risk for a NBA team to consider drafting him.

    It is very sad.

            • So I guess all the excitement around Pascal being traded this off-season was for nothing? Raps continuing to compete with the core they have.

                • I think we can all agree last season was not the norm for this team. They under performed. New coach, new system, so would it be crazy to think the results will be better this season?

                  • No, I don't think it's crazy to think we could end up with a better record this season. I think a more balanced pass-based approach on offense, combined with improved defense at the point of attack (Dennis), and with a useable bench with actual NBA players, we should be able to exceed our win total from last season. The only reason to doubt we'll play better this year is if you're a Fred sycophant. I'm definitely not one of those so I'm cautiously optimistic. Still nowhere near a contender but I don't see any reason we can't make the play in again.

                    • Time to bring back Bruno Caboclo back to raptors... I am absolutely certain that some other NBA team will bring him back and make him look real good if we don't... just like what PJ tucker went through

We already have an undersized point guard project on the roster.

                            • I knew all along this fucker was a scam…., there were some posters here who defended the guy while Nick Nurse was drooling of McCaw’s two championships from GS, gave significant court time at the expense of the young guys. Dumbass freeloader.
Wild story. Patrick McCaw was by far the most famous player ever to sign a contract in Belgium, (which already had its own article in Belgian sports media which barely talks about the domestic basketball league) Then this guy gets thrown behind bars upon arrival, the Minister of State gets involved with to try and fix it and he still gets deported, jesus. “Former NBA player Patrick McCaw will not be seen in Belgian halls next season after all. The three-time NBA champion even spent several days locked up in Steenokkerzeel due to visa problems and was forced to return to the US. He was supposed to be Ostend's top transfer, Patrick McCaw. The 27-year-old American was certainly not a star in the NBA in 5 seasons, but still had 3 titles on his record: two with the Golden State Warriors and one with the Toronto Raptors. Ostend proudly announced the arrival of McCaw a few weeks ago, but the transfer of the American turned out to be a fiasco. Upon his arrival in Belgium, McCaw did not get past passport control. Due to a strange quirk, his passport was signaled as "lost" or "stolen." The passport was revoked and McCaw was promptly detained at the transit center in Steenokkerzeel. Minister of State Johan Vande Lanotte, behind the scenes one of the strong men at Oostende, visited McCaw there, but failed to get the American released. McCaw was deported after four days and has since returned to the United States. He would not receive a new passport for several months, so Ostend is forced to look for a replacement. That one will be proposed soon.” Source (in Dutch): https://sporza.be/nl/2023/09/01/oost...1693569187954/
