You don't deal OG. He's 25, all NBA defense, high level 3pt shooter, can guard all 5 positions, and best friends with Scottie. They also happen to play great together.

His best years are still ahead of him. Guys that defend like him don't grow on trees he fits perfectly on every team. He has max player impact but will never command max player salary.
I should be clear, its not pascal and og I'm sick of, if thats how it read, but fred and trent. But I would consider trading OG if the right return was there and we were entering a full rebuild and not getting any return for fred or trent. None of that is likely to happen, I think Masai believes in this group and probably wants to see what happens in the early part of next season before considering trading core players. Other than Scottie, OG is the guy I want retain the most, I love his game.

Lol no way this isn't full on tampering.
No way Rockets would be doing this if they haven't made a secret handshake deal with Harden already.

People need to chill on this one.

I see zero problem with asking a coaching candidate about a pending free agent and how they would utilize him, IF he was acquired.

Harden is a very polarizing player, who doesn't fit certain styles of play. As a franchise, you're looking at a massive $200M investment in an asset. Imagine not asking that question and the coach you hire can't utilize Harden, and now you've wasted a sh*t ton of money and also hamstrung your salary cap.

It's a reasonable question to ask, and it's not tampering, because there is no contact with Harden or his representation involved. It's all theoretical.
You will also need that coach to help court the pending free agent, so you damn well better make sure he actually wants him on his team.

I agree with most of your points.
Id like to add that Brown is as good as gone (tired of being No 2 behind Tatum, tired of being talked about in trades & more importantly, I dont believe Bos wants to give out 2 super max deals).
Now where does he WANT to go (and that likely happens)? I doubt Raps are on his list.
          Ill stick w 3 options:
-Portland (whats in it for Bos? Simmons & kids & draft? Pass
-Sac (Rook & draft pics. Pass
-Hou -most likely (esp if Harden comes) but for what? Smith, draft pics, No 4...Pass. Likely puts Bos in rebuild, BUT is there room for a 3 way? Siakam to Bos, Brown to Hou & Porter & "young ones" or draft to To.
Can Bos do better than Siakam for Brown? Possible. Is there another "surprise" team that's on Browns list and has appealing assets for Bos? GS?
Definitely an interesting proposal. I don't know how much Masai feels about a rebuild like that. He gave up a pick for a vet at the deadline which not only gave up a future but also hurt their draft stock this year. He talked about parity in his press conference quite a bit.

I'm on board, but I think Masai would prefer to add to this core, not remove it. And I still think keeping Rico Hines on board was a sign that Pascal isn't going anywhere.

Bingo. My understanding is that was exactly the reason. Furthermore the only way to sign Jacob this year would have been to renounce either (or both) Fred & Trent. By trading for him this year we retain his birds right. In addition, we get to audition him 20 plus games & confirm that he is 1 of the missing pieces (others PG & shooting) & that was confirmed.
For those saying we could have gotten Kessler last draft. Really? That would imply 18 other GMs were morons (I assuming first 3 pics remain the same -not even sure of that). If it was that obvious that he was that good he is gone way before we pick at 20.
Few people here were clamoring for Mo Bamba at trade deadline. How did that work out for Lakers?
As for Fred or Trent free agency, my understanding is offers for both last trade deadline were poor. Basically just as likely to get as much this year in a S/T (or resign one or both). Sure they can with Orlando (why?), Detroit (seriously?). IMO Hou is legit (likely plan B). Anywhere else has to be S/T.
Where I dont give FO free pass -not getting a backup PG last offseason. Porter was to provide that missing bench shooting. Just bad luck.
Yup.. not getting a backup guard for Fred was this team's death sentence. Maybe as much as not getting a reliable center. Trading for Thad instead of a backup guard was when things went wonky. I don't mind the Porter acquisition, but him not really playing really hurt.

A legit backup guard would have given Fred less rope. Plus help the bench as we'd have a guy that can lift the other guys up a bit when the starters are sitting or are exhausted from carrying the team. Look at the impact Dowtin had in his limited minutes this year, and Brooks had last year. And neither are really that great.

              • Anyone else nostalgic for a little Bryan Colangelo making a move that gets some buzz and interest going ?

There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

                        • I'm surprised about all this interest in Griffin. He must interview really well.

Hiring Steve Nash as coach would be the ultimate Bryan Colangelo snake oil move. No way Masai would even consider a PR stunt like that….

Griffin could be a packaged deal with Nurse. If Griifin isn't getting the head coaching nod at least he seems to be attached to Nurse as one of his trusted assistant.

I still remember wanting to sign almost 40 year old Steve Nash was Colangelo plan A to revive the Raptors but luckily Nash didn't even want to come here cause he was chasing a ring.

Plan B ended up trading for Lowry which was Colangelo best move!
