1. IMO, Raptors don't need a new backup center. They should bring all the main guys back, and play JV more than 30 MPG.
2. As much as I like Lou, I'd like to see Ross as the backup SG next season. He could become a really good 6th man.
3. That being said, I'd start Patterson at the 4, and bring in a lockdown defender at the 3. Not necessarily a 3 point specialist.
4. The rest is depending on who we draft with our first round draft pick. Do not trade it, keep the player.
5. Sign free agents to complete the 3rd unit, whether it's our guys or other free agents.
Valanciunas/Hansbrough/Nogueira
Patterson/Johnson/FA or rookie
?????/Johnson/Caboclo
DeRozan/Ross/FA or rookie
Lowry/Vasquez/FA or rookie
2) if your starting 2pat then start JJ
3) we should target a backup 4/5 and SF who is good for 3&D.
I like the look of..
Lowry / Vasquez
DD / Ross
JJ / ?? / Bruno
2pat / Amir
JV / ?? / Bebe
Then also grab a third string combo PG / SG and bring back Chuck on the vet min.
Lou could potentially be used in combo with expirings and maybe a pick to nab a starting PF such as Taj Gibson and a backup SF; moving Amir to backup C.
Or we just coast out as is. But if we do the latter than this year I doubt we make noise in the playoffs, a move like the one above, to me, with good seeding gets us past the first and maybe second round.

Even green and plumlee from Phoenix would be solid backups at the SF and C. Though they won't care about Lou because they have guard overload so idk what that would take and I doubt a combo of fields, hands & picks would do it.
There is also a possibility of just trying to pry plumlee or some other solid back up center and keep the combo or GV / Lou / Ross as out 1,2&3. But Ross is better at the 2.
Decisions, decisions...

Having Lowry, Vasquez, Ross and Patterson, plus DeMar who can shoot without being a 40% 3pt shooter, I just don't think we need another legit 3point threat. Just a LOCKDOWN defenser who's a better overall player than JJ, that's why I still have him as the backup SF.
Ross is your backup 3&D guy and the backups are already there.

Heyward wouldn't be a bad option if the Jazz would take Ross.Axel wrote:Now Cody can stop posting about this guy and we have a poster to blame if anything goes wrong!!KeonClark wrote:We won't hear back from him. Seriously... who could we get that actually will be helpful and not take everything we have?
Not much I guess... unless we go low and get something on the cheap, basically a veteran/struggling newbie.
