Why would a team need insurance for vet minimum?
You're right they should just flush that $1,000,000.00+ dollars down the drain...What was I thinking? I thought this was a business based on the concept of being profitable -- oh wait -- it is a large corporation in the business of making money. Who would of thunk it.

Furthermore, to get him, they need to cut someone else, so there's an opportunity cost:

Is Amare + paying off the rest of player A's (guaranteed) contract worth significantly more than player A's contract?

If so, is the result a significant positive impact on the team vs. staying pat.

        Whose minutes is Amare taking?

Does present Amare beat out Amir, Pat Pat, psycho T, or JV for minutes?

Taking all those scenarios under consideration, is the risk of paying his contract in full (taking 100% of the risk, whether he plays or gets injured), and the cut player's contract in full worth it?

Even if they cut Steimsma, and gave him the bulk of Tyler's minutes, it would not have a significantly positive impact. Furthermore, the Knicks are better at shot blocking, rebounds and assists when he is OFF the court. And even though they have a higher offensive rating when he does play Amare is still a net negative player. Amare hasn't had a decent season (when you look at per) in 4 years.

Why do I have to explain this? Seriously.

Fire extinguishers across North America are very nervous about this situation.

Wonder if anyone's told him that it's Sobey's grape juice rather than Bordeaux Cabernet.
