Pretty sure those are 2 completely separate stories.

My final wish list for pick #19:
        1. Ja'Kobe Walter
        2. Kel'el Ware
        3. Bub Carrington
        4. Kyshawn George
        And for #31:
        1. Anyone from pick 19 that slips here
        2. Trentyn Flowers
        3. Kyle Filipowski
        4. Pacome Dadiet
I like this list…bub would be first for me though.

I would think a Boucher for Shamet works. Shamet is a Trent replacement.

Draft only two nights away. Comes up so fast. I hate picking at 19 though. Means I have to wait like an hour, hour and a half before the pick comes up. So at that point just hoping for a trade to come down *cough* Bruce Brown *cough*.

I'm really hoping a guy slips and drops that far down and we just snatch them up. Like Cam last year. Or the year OG fell. Feels like that will be Dillingham or Topic this time around. Topic because he's hurt and Dillingham because his combine measurements were brutal.
I've come to realize my interest in this draft isn't who may fall to 19 or 31, it's about what the Raps may do to potentially move up or some sort of draft night trade. The 19th and 31st picks alone just isn't doing anything to create much excitement for me.

That isn't what it says. 2 separate scenarios. Teams are interested in the 31st pick. Raptors showed interest in Shamet.

I’m actually quite excited for both picks, I hope they have the opportunity to trade down from 31 and get a player in the low to mid 20s, there’s good players in that 15-25 range

That 31 is apparently kind of valuable because its the first pick on the second day of the draft. Meaning teams have a day to think things over and who they want to draft in the second round. Hope something interesting happens.

I think I'm just hoping for more change in the roster than these picks. I wouldn't really expect the 19th pick to see any significant rotation minutes this season.

Just as a general proposition I'd imagine you've got teams looking to move into the second round cause of the increased financial flexibility.

I may not understand it fully, but I don't think the 31st pick is considered to have value because teams have a day to think things over between the two draft rounds. I think it has to do with the rookie wage scale not applying to second round picks. Being able to negotiate contracts instead of being tied to the rookie wage scale and having the option to not guarantee money is likely of huge value to contending teams that are often already over the cap and into the tax.

I'd expect Toronto will be fielding calls from teams like Phoenix, Boston and Millwaukee for that pick.

Personally, I'm uneasy about the Raps situation cause it could be an important offseason in terms of picking a lane going forward but the flexibility seems better in theory than in practice and if they get it wrong pivoting quickly might not be so simple.

It feels like we've said that about the last two or maybe three off seasons (picking a lane).

Wish I could find the actual quote, but Bobby Webster talked about the advantages of a 2nd round pick being that you don't have to take on guaranteed/committed future salary. I know Primer and Dan are going to take offense to that... but it's exactly what Bobby said and it makes perfect sense for a team that always plans carefully and well in advance to be a non-tax team.
