Ulrich Chomche sounds like a long-term project. This guy isn’t that high on him. Thinks he needs a couple years in the G-League, at least.

He looks like a Masai player.
Even better the few games in Africa he shot a pretty respectable 3pt%.
So African, long, agile and now coming with a 3 point shot. Here is a Masai player type 2.0.

All and all this kid is quite intriguing. We have moved off a lot of our size. We need a back up PG, this guy is not that. We also need some young mobile bigs, this kid could be that. Super raw, but considering our trajectory, we might have the time and system to develop him.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the Pacers pick. I don't know if he will still be there at 31.

      • Big day for Zach Edey. From ESPN:

Edey played through an injured left leg, finished with 25 points and 14 rebounds, became the first Big Ten player with 2,200 points and 1,200 rebounds in a career, and led No. 3 Purdue past Wisconsin 78-70 on Sunday. And then the Boilermakers surprised him by retiring his jersey.

"It's real cool," Edey said before addressing the emotions of the day. "I had all my friends here from Toronto for like the first time. It's my last game in Mackey."

And there was plenty to celebrate for Edey and Purdue (28-3, 17-3), winners of five straight.

Afterward, Edey stood arm-in-arm with his mother before addressing the crowd.

Before the game, coach Matt Painter presented point guard Braden Smith with a ceremonial ball for breaking Purdue's single-season assists record, which stood for nearly 50 years. Moments later, Purdue's pep band played "O Canada" as a senior day tribute to Edey, who is from Toronto.

"I've been trying to get them to do that for four years," Edey joked.

If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

With a top 6 pick though? Great shooter but is he going to be able to start on an NBA team?

He's doing his damage off the bench which is nice as that will be his role when he starts his NBA career. I need to dig into his play making more before I make my final opinion. His future success is based on his ability to run and guard the PG position and I’m not sure about that yet. Is he Colin Sexton or is he Jamal Murray?

I think he's a lot like Fred VanVleet actually. That would be my closest comp based on watching some videos. He's taller, but he's mostly better at being an off guard than a point guard. Yet can still play point and has some good instincts when doing it.

He's a scrappy defender but is limited due to his short stature. And he's an exceptional shooter. And has range too.

              • Here’s a game that shows off more than his shooting. Operates in some pick and roll and some finishes at the rim.

Great fit next to Scottie and would make IQ tradeable down the road (to OKC + picks, for SGA).

I didn't want to make the Quickly comparison, but thier games seem similar. Only way we draft Reed is if we end up keep our pick at 6, he'll be gome by the Indiana pick.

A guy I watched yesterday and will keep an eye on is Tucker DeVries from Drake. 6'7" wing who can flat out shoot it. Also has a mid post game and kicks it when doubled or the defence collapses. Good ball hawk and decent rebounder. Reminds me of former Raptor Tracy Murray. I like him with our second round pick if we don't still need a developmental big man.

                    • I don't see any Quickley comparison. When I watch Sheppard play, I see a high IQ version of Bradley Beal.

It’s the size, Kentucky connection, the 3 ball and the bench role. Quickly came off the bench in 40 of 67 games during his 2 years for Kentucky.

Beal is a decent comparison, another guy could be CJ McCollum.

Pretty sure Beal is an order of magnitude better athlete. That matters at the NBA level.

                          • workouts with teams play a bigger role. I feel like a big chunk of info we never get to see and hear. Gradey apparently had terrible workouts during draft process which is why he slid.

                            • Well, what do we have here? O'Connor now has Reed Sheppard going 1st in his mock draft.

I've been sayin it here for months, Sheppard is the best player in this year's draft followed by Risacher.

KOC also has Castle in his top 4. He's good. There was a mock last week that had Castle going to the Knicks at 22.

One question that I have about this mock, maybe I just watched too many Kentucky games lately but how is Edwards not a 1st round pick?

Givony has Shappard going 5th. Castle going 16th.

I suspect guys will keep shuffling around since there is no clear cut top players. If we do keep the pick our scouting department better be on point. This will be an easy draft to screw up.
