The guys you mention are either taller and longer Beal/Edwards or top end athletes Edwards/Mitchell and Beal is no slouch there as well. I’ll hold off until I see his combine numbers.
Wasn't the reason many teams(including the Raptors) passed on Bane was because he has short arms?
I guess I'm 12 years old, because the bolded will never not make me laugh. Lol
But also, Gradey had better numbers as a freshman, and has a clear size advantage for his position. Gradey is a lottery pick in any class. Sheppard not so much.
Huh? WJF mentioned the combine. I don't put much stock to that. Just because a guy can fly or has long arms or big hands doesn't mean they''re going to be good.

By top pick do you mean a top 6 pick if we keep it, or do you mean the Pacers pick which will be our top pick if we convey the pick?
Either way I'd say it's extremely unlikely. We have Poeltl and Kelly signed to term, and we can keep Porter as a 3rd developmental center on the cheap.
We do need PF depth though so could draft a PF/C type as long as they lean more the PF side of that equation. I don't know enough about Sarr to know if he's more of a C than a PF but that's what I think he is. If management thinks he's a PF then maybe we would take him, but there would be multiple guys available in the top 6 who fit our needs a lot better.
Now if Edey falls all the way to 32 we may take him due to Canada connection and he would be decent value there.

Don't you think they'd try to replace what they had in Koloko? I mean yeah we have Olynyk and Porter behind Poeltl, but that's not really big.
I suspect if the BPA is a C, they'll take a C. Especially if that C fits with what they want beside Scottie long term.
I however do suspect that if they have multiple guys available to them that are roughly the same level of talent, a C is likely pretty much the least desired position. Jak is the solution for now, and they don't have backup minutes for development right away. So they probably punt the C draft selection a couple of years, leaving time to potentially address that via trade in the meantime if they get a chance.

Are we talking about fit on offense, or defense? For offense, are there any C's in the draft who can shoot & do a bit of playmaking above the break? That seems to be how the C is ideally used in Darko's system.
If Raps are okay to come into next season with 3 rookies, then one of those will be a C IMO. They need good quality centers in their pipeline with Koloko no longer around. Centers need more time to develop and they could send that kid down to the G-league as well for most of the year.
I do like Ware and he would be my pick for C (at the Pacers pick).. and then go for a guard/wing with that first pick.
I don't know enough about him, but I wouldn't rule out Nikola Topic as a choice. He's a Serb and I'm sure Darko will be vouching for him if we get into the top 4.

Kyle Filipowski is probably the best passing center in the draft. Also shooting about 35% from 3. But I think he would be a reach in the top 4.. and likely gone by the Pacers pick.
Yeah if we're looking for Darko specific players than I don't think we draft a C in this draft class.. or try to develop those skills in whoever we do get.

If we're drafting for need, the best bet is to draft a big 3&D wing who can guard 2-3-4.... basically the OG replacement. Our Herb Jones & Trey Murphy on a rookie contract. Those type of guys can plug & play into any system and have good value in trades. Melvin Ajinca looks like a 3&D guy we could get with the Pistons pick at the top of the second round.
If we're talking about need, we need a PG. IQ's backup is Barnes who's really a forward. The 3rd PG on this team is a 10 day contract guy. Issue is there's only one good PG in this draft(Topic). So they probably have to address that in free agency or trades.
As for C, I wouldn't be oppose to drafting one with our second round pick especially if Edey's there. But with our first round pick? absolutely.....not. Hell no.
As for all these Darko stuff. Who cares? he's not going to be here long term.

The reason a lot of teams passed on Bane was because of his combine numbers. He has short arms.
Banes stock went up because of great workouts and interviews. Here's why teams were hesitant on drafting him higher:
"Bane isn't the most fluid or explosive athlete and lacks a degree of flexibility both with the ball on offense and when defending the perimeter. He struggles to finish around the rim in traffic, evidenced by his 45% 2-point percentage and extremely low free throw rate. Although he has a soft touch on floaters, Bane lacks deception when faced with size and length in the paint. "
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

Yeah or Ryan Dunn. He should be there for the Pacers pick.
