I agree with you. He is better than Boban. BUT in today's NBA you just have some concerns. I think there are other 7 footers in this draft that I would take before taking him.

Concerns make sense. But for a 2nd round Pick? I think that is fairly now risk, high reward.

And like I said, sure, lots of 7-footers in the draft ... that are likely to be as good as Edey in the 2nd Round? Less sure.

If he can't play defense and can't keep up in transition he won't be playable, just like Boban. A lot of his offense is predicated on getting calls also, which works great for him in college but won't work at all in the NBA. I think despite being better than Boban it won't matter because the same huge deficiencies will be there. The only way I see Edey being playable for long stretches is if they build a team around him.

There are 2 main aspects to C defence. PnR and rim protection. Yes Edey will have to play drop coverage (like JV and a number of other C's not named Boban). And yes that will leave him vulnerable to guards with midrange games especially on a team without a stopper. But no one says he won't be able to defend the rim.

He would be a terrible fit on a team like Indy which relies on transition, true. But he would fit much better on a slower pace half court team especially being a lob threat. The disappearance of fouls is total BS. Hell, if the Lakers draft him he'll be shooting 10 a game.

Lakers are probably the best team for him to end up on. If the league benefits from him doing well I like his chances a lot better.

I never wanted a Boban, and still think Edey is better than Boban ever was. So yes, I still wouldn't mind an Edey with our 2nd rounder though, ya.

I'm with you on Purdue/UConn, just the other way around. I want to see what Clingan can do against Edey.

it wiill depend on who is left ... but say its him vs ....ulrich, daaron holmes or a few others i'd take them over.

Purdue doesn't use Edey much as a screen setter, but he's crushed a few guys when he has screened.
