Bronny gonna test the draft and also transferring if he doesn't get good draft feedback. I predict he gets told to go back and transfers somewhere he can be the offensive focus. Going to USC was stupid since he was never going to be the focus. Hence averaging 4.8 pts.

    • Here is a fun and somewhat realistic hypothetical question.

If we get the number 1 overall pick, who are you drafting and why?

        Risacher

        1. He's the best player in the draft.
        2. He fits. They can just slot him in the 2/3 spot. Poeltl, Barnes, Risacher, RJ, Quickley.

        • Edey has already achieved everything that he returned to Purdue for and more, leading sports talk shows and garnering the attention of basketball fans worldwide, including LeBron James, who said “You’re gonna watch Purdue because of Zach Edey, because he’s a great player.”

Edey is now projected to go in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft. As a result, he will make a lot more money and have a lot more security than he would have had he declared a year earlier.

He's going to go too late for us to take in the top 10 and too early for our 2nd pick or second round imo. This may end up beinhg a situation where fans are pissed if we take him or scared for what he might become if we don't. I don't think he lands here.

I keep saying I like Salaun and I'd take him in the top 5, but it's a tough call to make if we get the top pick because he's such a boom/bust prospect. I'd probably lean towards Sarr because he has the potential to anchor a defense but also fit into the modern NBA offense as a floor spreading big. He may never be an All Star, but he could have a long and productive NBA career like an Al Horford (he did make one or two all star team I believe).

If we end up keeping our pick then it means we have the Indy pick as well which can be used for a guard or player we like that drops.

I'm not particularly excited about Risacher or Topic who are commonly listed in the top 5 on most mock drafts. Castle, Dillingham or Collier would all make for interesting pick prospects.

Ya I think the ideal Masai draft would be

              Risacher with our pick
              Salaun with Indy's pick
              Chomche with Detroit's

Big. Long. Mobile. and now with potential shooting.

No, we need to draft a PG. If we draft a winger like Risacher with our own pick, then draft someone like Carter with the Pacers pick.

Didn't Wiseman win that Gatorade player of the year award once too? It's a highschool award. Guys do develop and get better. Lots of great players didn't get a GPOY either.

I like Dick.. I wanted him. He was in my top 4 after Wemby, Miller and Wallace. And would have taken him #4 overall if we those 3 were taken before him. But I think we could find a really great player like Dick in this draft.

I'm not even sure I like Buzelis (or Holland) that much. I am scared of guys who play in the G-league for a season. Although I do like Buzelis' passion. But a guy like Dillingham can be a 3 level scorer. He's shooting 44 from 3 and can get to the rim. Jared McCain can create his own 3pt shot. He's shooting 41%. Cody Williams doesn't take a lot of attempts so might be hard to rank, but he's shooting 41.5%, and has the size (legit 6'8). Sheppard is mostly likely a bench player but he is uber efficient but also has an edge he plays with when he's on the court. He gives me some FVV vibes (and to me that's a good thing). I really like Devin Carter's game. He's only about 6'3 and yet averages more than 8 boards a game.

Knecht is a senior as we discussed already and is likely at his ceiling. But he's easily a 3 level scorer as well. Bringing in a younger Bogdonovic level player is super appealing.

And those are just "shooters". Lot of intriguing big man talent in this draft too: Clingan, Ware, Missi, Starr, Filipowski

And some pretty interesting defenders like Castle and Dunn.

I'm not writing off this draft like others want to. I think there can be some really interesting guys that will get drafted. And I bet at least one or two end up as all-stars.
its not a perfect list but its a pretty good list. wiseman will end up being ok in his career but he has two things that went against him. time away from the court both in college and to start off his career kept him from improving and putting any film work into actual real world experience. I also just think he is bad with his decision making which is hard to work on.

So yes of course lots of players do develop. Development isn't an exact science because there are a lot of behind-the-scenes things that can occur to distract guys, or just other factors in general.

Rob dilling ham is impressive but its been at the NCAA level. He is maybe 175 and 6'1 MAYBE even though he is listed at 6'2. I am not into any short guards.

Cody, Buz, Holland, all are not perfect but they can at least defend their position and be some what switchable. Rob cannot help with that. I'd rather take a gamble on Castle who is bigger and can be an offensive initiator or topic. I ddont really like many of the guards. Dalton is a wing player but is small for his position and also doesn't defend. Between RJ, Quickley, and Gradey we have no one in that guard rotation who can reasonably defend night in night out with consistency as an above average guy. Maybe quickley in spurts. Gradey can be a positive team defender but that isn't his primary job. For that reason I am not in on dalton. I will say i'd rather Dalton than Rob because at least he isn't so short that you are worrying about him getting used to the NBA size.

I go back to one of my original points. We need a lot of stuff on this team and it will take a while to truly complete this rebuild. Majority of those who are suggesting that next year we will be a top6 seeded team may want to rethink things.

My dream would be getting into the top 2 and nabbing sarr.

So bizarre how their is still so much uncertainty of the best player on a number one seed that makes it to the championship game.

I guess Ochai could be a comparison. He was the best player on the #1 seed Kansas team and he was drafted 14th.

                            • Looks like some 17 year old kid named Dink Pate is thinking of declaring for the 2024 draft. He's apparently got super star potential. His G-league stats aren't good. So can't vouch for him. But he was a 5 star recruit out of high school.

Some quick "highlight" videos make him look like a young T-Mac. He was apparently a lottery level pick in 2025. But if he comes out early could change up the draft boards a bit.

Would love to have a Dink and Dick on the same team, just for the laughs alone.

He has good size for a guard. Not sure why he wouldn't stay in the g league for another year of development and hopefully make a name for himself and get grafted in the lottery next year. Maybe some team made him a promise?

Not sure where he would be slated to go this year as opposed to next.
