No idea how to predict what the Lakers are willing to do. In theory they should probably just be rebuilding, but that's practically impossible to do with LeBron on your team, never mind with Davis there too. Maybe best for them to lean in, further sell out the future and find a way to upgrade in the now.

Rui I wonder about - would the Raptors value his presence as a potential wing/forward defender who can shoot enough to take on the extra salary without too much compensation? I doubt they'd want to play DAR in front of their guard prospects, maybe they would need to find a third team who would value him a little but have little to offer the Lakers in terms of win now pieces, from whom the Raps could take back some relatively useless expiring and some minor draft asset like a future 2nd. And then some sort of 1st from the Lakers probably.
With the whole Bronny situation, it doesn’t seem like that LeBron’s biggest concerns are winning rings right now. That team is on the treadmill and is one serious LeBron injury away from going down the shitter. I don’t know how he can hold up much longer playing like he does. He’s a freak but freaks have limits. Any future picks we can get out of them are probably excellent picks to hold.

    • That Klutch paycheck must be really something. The Olympic MVP so far is Dennis Schröder.

      • So as expected, Laurie got his extension. Utah is getting him around 25% of the cap like Scottie. Still think they will get a good pick. Being in the West pretty much guarantees them out of the play-in there. And lottery luck can get them a top 4 pick. So win-win for Ainge there. No idea why he was even considering trading him. Rumours were that the trade died because GSW wasn't giving up Podz.

I love Podz, but he should have been moved. Steph is going to just ride out in mediocrity I guess.

Warriors, in particular, were in hot pursuit of Markkanen. They should be active for upgrades to give Steph a shot and are aggressively shopping Wiggins.
Wiggins contract is butt cheeks though. He has 3 more years (last is a player option, which he'll most likely opt into). He's got one of the worst contracts in the league (especially since he's now a part time player).

I think it would be hard to get out of that without giving up draft picks (plural). and that's just to move him. To upgrade that spot will likely require more than that.

          • Looks like Kuminga wants a max extension from GS, like his counterparts from his draft have been getting. Klay gone, Draymond past his prime and only Heild and Kyle Anderson brought in to support Steph. Do they pay Kuminga or try to use him to acquire more help for Steph?

If they give him a max extension he becomes a bad contract. The fact he publicly wants one is gonna dampen his trade value. I think they should have dealt him and Moody a long time ago. Not sure what they can actually get for them now.

              • I like the Warriors roster right now. If they can add one last piece, I think they can surprise people. They have a good mix of good young and vet players. Let's not forget they also added Melton to the mix.

Reminds me a bit of the James Harden situation with OKC. Kuminga might be the type of young player with promise which some team will take swing at signing to a max offer. He put up pretty good numbers on a team where he was playing behind Steph and Klay so there's room for more production.

I thought for sure they would try to trade him by the last trade deadline. They may start looking to the future and give him his desired extension.

it's really interesting how opinions can differ. because i think they are wasting Curry's time with this roster

Curry carried Draymond, Kerr and a still recovering Klay to a chip. Wiggins was their second best player, and he's still on the team. This team is significantly better than that one.

Curry is 36. He isn't carrying anyone to a title anymore. The cycle has turned and there are other top teams now. GSW will now go back to complete irrelevance like they were for ~40 years.

Wiggins was playing like their second best player. Now he's the worst contract in the league. They all got older and their young guys are not on that level

Team USA played 100 games over 9 months? Cool. Where can I watch this?
