So I guess Stan is clueless and who ever wrote his scouting report on ESPN is as well.

He has all the tools. 7'2.25" wingspan and agile. He also thinks the game. He knows where he suppose to be. He a lot like 2pat that way.
Svg said he was a good low post defender, not many dominate low post pfs anymore. Detoit was a mess defensively when he played alongside one of the best rim protectors and not much better when monroe was out there without drummond. He does not fit with jv. If you want to pick him over jv than you are crazy.

Too rich. Can spend the money a bet better elsewhere.

        Then trade JV, problem solved
Who's going to play centre then? Steamer?
        The name's Bond, James Bond.

I'm a fan of Monroe. Would like to see him here.

Yes, he's not the greatest defender, but I don't think he's incapable. He's more athletic than Jonas, which means he can be taught to defend better.
No, being more athletic does not mean he can be taught to be better defensively than JV. You could perhaps say that about shot blocking, tho a lot of that is timing, but not D, particularly not post D.

Correction: Being more athletic allows for an opportunity to be learn physical movements faster/easier than someone less athletic. But it's no guarantee.

As for man-to-man post D, I'm not aware of Monroe being poor in this area.

Didn't they say the same for Bargnani?

I'll admit that Bargnani's man post D was acceptable. It was every other aspect of defense where he was god awful

...and that is where I wonder about Monroe. All of SVG's comments sound identical to Barg's D. Monroe's biggest strength is his passing out of the post, which is really nice. But his D scares the be-jeezus out of me. Can he rotate quickly? (I don't think so). Can he double off his man and recover? (I don't think so).

He's like JV but a little quicker with less Rim protection

More or less agree, which is why I don't want him, he'd be a redundant addition. We need to acquire players that compliment each other.

I get your concern. But the Bargnani comparison is like saying both a Toyota Camry and a Hummer H2 eat gas.

There are varying degrees of defensive struggles. Some are manageable/correctable, which I'm leaning towards Monroe's falling into.

Perhaps, but you do you think he would work well beside JV?

Not ideal. But I'm speaking form a place where I'm losing faith in Jonas. I think he's overrated on these boards.

In all seriousness though, comparing this year's stats

Monroe doesn't exactly seem like an upgrade.

Per36 - Monroe is good for an extra 2 points on an extra 3 shot attempts.

Very much seems like a lateral move at best to me.

We've had enough of these one side of the court players. If we are going after a significant piece I really hope it's a two way player. And for that reason, Greg Monroe, you are fired!

Unless its a specialist like Tony Allen or Kyle Korver for the right price, NOMORE ONE TRICK PONY!
