Love to have Greg Monroe here but second best outcome is to see the Knicks get him. We can watch as he and Carmello anchor the Knicks to say a 28W and 54L season that along with Denvers down year lands us a lottery pick in 2016. Just have to keep loving the TML of the NBA the New York Knicks.!!
If the Knicks give the max to Monroe that leaves us a shot at perhaps prying out a very serviceable long term solution at SF with Tobias Harris via offer sheet agreement sign and trade with the Magic. Coming back with him is the equally serviceable Andrew Nicholson who somehow has been shuffled off to a corner in Orlando.

The thing I worry about most is pick-and-roll defense. Maybe this is falling into the same logic that made us all fixated on getting a player to stop 'Joe Johnson types' last summer. But seeing Gortat and Wall torch us over and over makes me think that this needs to be addressed. Maybe the problem is more with the guards, maybe it's with the coach and scheme. But it doesn't seem like Monroe would actually improve our P&R defense.

hes 25 years old with tremendous upside. love his game. everyone talks about his defense. what about all these guards that rape our pg/sg? if we need an upgrade its in those positions

I would definitely bring Amir back at the right price, but he isn't a long-term answer and is even questionable in the short-term. He is the right kind of player though imo.

Unless its a specialist like Tony Allen or Kyle Korver for the right price, NOMORE ONE TRICK PONY!

There are varying degrees of defensive struggles. Some are manageable/correctable, which I'm leaning towards Monroe's falling into.

In all seriousness though, comparing this year's stats
Player Season Age MP FGA FG% eFG% FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PTS
Greg Monroe 2014-15 24 31.0 12.4 .496 .496 4.9 .750 3.3 6.9 10.2 2.1 1.1 0.5 2.2 15.9
Jonas Valanciunas 2014-15 22 26.2 8.2 .572 .572 3.5 .786 2.7 6.0 8.7 0.5 0.4 1.2 1.4 12.0
Monroe doesn't exactly seem like an upgrade.
Per36 - Monroe is good for an extra 2 points on an extra 3 shot attempts.
Player Season FGA FG% FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS
Greg Monroe 2014-15 14.4 .496 5.7 .750 3.9 8.0 11.9 2.4 1.3 0.6 2.5 2.5 18.5
Jonas Valanciunas 2014-15 11.2 .572 4.7 .786 3.7 8.2 11.9 0.7 0.6 1.6 1.9 3.8 16.5
Very much seems like a lateral move at best to me.

But his D scares the be-jeezus out of me. Can he rotate quickly? (I don't think so). Can he double off his man and recover? (I don't think so).
