Mogbo should probably be in the conversation for 5th starter. Might sound farfetched but one would have said the same about starting Pascal as a rookie. Doesn't shoot as well as he should to maximize Scottie but maybe he flashes enough there to get the nod sooner rather than later. He gives us that big, athletic, hyper mobile frontcourt that we've grown accustomed to and we know we need to compete on D. Plus I love how he pushes RJ to the 3 and has the quickness to take the more perimeter-oriented player of opponent frontcourts.
Quickley
RJ
Barnes
Mogbo
Jak
Might not be Darko's first choice but in "year one of the rebuild" his job evaluation probably depends just as much on development of the young guys as it does on wins next season.
Who's his competition for the starting 3/4? Gradey, Brown, and...?

I do think it's in line with what they envisioned longer term if Mogbo develops on the high end of his range of outcomes (Scottie's backup being the lower end of success story options).

I mean Dick, Brown, Walter would all be ahead of him. I suspect they'd go Olynyk or Boucher ahead of him at the 4. So, 5 guys.Last edited by slaw; Wed Jul 31, 2024, 04:59 PM.

They probably have Brown pegged as the 5th starter. He's getting paid like one and he's on his final year so they need to create some interest in him.
?????Ochai is probably closer to make or break territory than the other younger prospects so he'll have his chances as well.

If Brown starts, then Dick, Olynyk, Agbaji, Walter, Mitchell and Boucher(?). Will be good competition for minutes before you even get to guys like Mogbo. Based on Summer League, which is all we've seen, I'd say Shead has a better chance of cracking that rotation than Mogbo.

I agree that Boucher SHOULD be part of the rotation. But he should have been last year too and he wasn't. If he doesn't play, there's a pretty clear runway to backup big minutes for Mogbo beside Kelly.
