Rogers Communications to buy out Bell's share of MLSE for $4.7 billion

Bell sells its stake in MLSE to Rogers for $4.7B (msn.com)

This may effect the Toronto Raptors .. Raptors President doesn't exactly have a great relationship
with the Rogers side of MLSE .. Although they have shown a willingness to spend money cause
    Jays payroll is high ..

yeah..just saw...is this good..bad....nothing? I guess it means that there's now just one person making the decisions but is that person Edward? Bye, bye Masai? Hope it just cements their reputation as a player.

Things are likely not going to end well. We've seen how things have gone with the Blue Jays. Rogers will spend money, but they like to hire yes men as opposed to innovators. Toronto needs innovators to win.

Why would Bell want to sell their shares in MLSE? It's such a big money maker.

A quick scan of twitter (not always the best barometer) suggests this is a bad thing. Rogers may have broke the bank paying for hockey rights but they might have also seen what just went down with the latest NBA TV deals and now they get to be on both sides of that. I think it's different when the Teacher's Pension Plan owned the teams. Then the goal was to make money win or lose. Now at least winning teams increase revenue by ratings and advertising.

Unless this merger is the cause in the uptick in Aerocity Call Girls, I guess I'll wait and see how it plays out.

Yeah probably really bad. As largely problematic as all the MLSE players are, Rogers is by far the likeliest to screw this up royally.

                Yikes.
Ed Rogers seems like a guy that wants to have all the glory. Even though almost everything has been gifted to him on a silver platter. He even fights with family, publicly.
Someone like Masai is his anti-thesis.
I don't think this ends well.

Ya, overall, my guess is this proves bad for the basketball product on the floor.

I'm sure they'll say all the right stuff about how the Teams and GMs will have full autonomy to make decisions best for the team ... but ya ... I'd have a crazy, reckless Billionaire who's ultimately passionate about the team than a penny pinching conglomerate any day of the week... God I never thought Ballmer would be appealing ... Lol

That piece of shit Ed Rogers now has full control of the Raptors? of course it's bad.

I dunno, I still think we're in a good spot because our ownership makes more money when the team is good. Last thing they'll want is a bad product where people aren't watching games. Could be a lot worse.

Masai gone to Seattle. It’s all lining up perfectly for him. He won’t have to live with overpriced treadmill team that he’s building.

I have many thoughts on this but my short take is that this will be more good than bad for the Raptors.
