  • It's a grand slam with 8 guys on base

    • Pascal's skill level improvement, from year-to-year and even within this season, is mind-boggling. He's taking guys off the dribble with a hesitation cross-over move, among other things. Where TF did that come from?

He was doing more in G-league. His skills are finally translating

This, the only thing that has improved this year is his shot. Shooting 36 percent from 3 post All-star. He had the handle and feel for thr game last year. Just didn't have the confidence. Confidence is the most important thing to a hooper. By the way he carry himself you can tell he knows he's nice.

And adjusting to the speed, length and IQ of NBA players also takes time. On the flip side, this is what's also so disappointing about Norm, who's a guard and has played basketball longer than Siak. Some guys just never develop the timing & feel for the game at the NBA level.

I've met many very under skilled but over confident people. Too many in fact

That's the Dunning-Kruger thing. They are so under-skilled that they don't realise how under-skilled they are.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

                        • WTF is VORP? Sounds like some made up baseball stat that made its way to basketball.

And Fred, if he was drafted, would be #4 on that list, just ahead of Brogdan. Masai pretty much dry-humped all the other GMs in that draft.

VORP is Value Over Replacement Player. There is a baseball stat by the same name.

Basically, it converts box score plus minus to account for minutes played and evaluate over contributions to the team.(it was also the easiest handy stat I had to rank guys from that draft based on over contributions for their careers. I was being lazy)

By win shares, Poeltl and Siakam rank 3rd and 5th from that draft, respectively. By WS/48, 1st and 4th, if you only account for guys who've played 1000 career minutes. Yeah, Poeltl's career WS/48 is higher than Simmons'.
