He just seems to be trying to do too much. When he's decisive and quick, he's looked really good. These are growing pains as a sophomore so no worries to be honest. The game will slow down for him, he just needs to learn and play through it.

Agreed with everyone he is trying too much and not playing within the flow of the offence.
He's really let go of moving on the perimeter to knock down an open 3 and instead of making a quick, decisive move off the pass he is stepping back and trying to analyze how to break down the defence ala DeMar. Huge problem for Norm is he is nowhere near as crafty in terms of footwork, understanding what the defence is and isn't giving him (so a lot of it looks forced) and doesn't have nearly as many small tweaks and intricacies nailed down like DD does. DD knows how to keep his defender on his hip, he has multiple moves with his feet to create space (step backs, side steps, euro steps), the ability to switch hands with the ball, change of speed etc. You could go on and on but that's the point....
DeMar has so many more small wrinkles to his offensive game that allows him to iso better where as tbh Norm is a bit rudimentary at this point. Right now he creates space with speed and long strides but he is very right hand dominant dribbling (I know he likes to use that as a way to switch hands last minute to the left to create greater space on his lay ups) but he hasn't nailed down how to change paces and dribble in tighter spaces where it's more important how you handle the ball than just using speed and power to blow through. It becomes predictable like JV's pump fake that he's stepping behind the PnR to create running space to go downhill on a defender but he hasn't used any of the other footwork, body contortion or anything to create space when the defender can stay with him or a help defender knows he's barrelling down for a lay up or dunk. There is no real mid range game and if you just forget about your 3, you may as well be a bigger, quicker Corey.
He needs to get back to nailing shots and taking the pass and quickly driving in on the defence before they can set up and not step back thinking you can create when the straight line drive and maybe a crossover is all you got. Gotta nail a 3 so you can open up lanes and understand the mid-range a helluva lot better if you're going to try and isolate. But hey a 23 year old DeMar was fairly rudimentary himself. Hopefully he and the staff can help him identify his weaknesses and work on it because I know he's always willing to work.

Norm is being asked to attack the basket hard as the first option dribble driver. Raps are running a lot of DeMar's pet sets with Norm, but he obviously doesn't have the game, experience or handles to replace a 35% USG / 3-time all-star at this stage of his career.
Norm is in the process of getting Casey'd. Just like CoJo, who is attempting to run Lowry's sets, even though he has only 1 or 2 semi-reliable counters.

Norm and Delon spent most of last season on 905 pretending to be Kyle and Cory tho. They're not at that level and the system is pretty flimsy that DD and Kyle improv most of the time. Kyle is pretty special to be able to create for others through his own guile and DD to draw contact and manufacture points.
Casey does not do much with the weapons that he has, he just has good weapons independent of his usage imo.
