raptors999 wrote: View Postno, its what the Raptor actually do. if they keep Powell on the Roster this year and he is a great as a backup or even a starter hes a first round pick taken second round. if he goes to D-Leage for a year develops a shot and ball-handling hes a great second round pick. if he rots on the bench and never sees NBA time hes a typical second rounder maybe screwed up by the organization. if he goes to D-League and never develops hes a typical second round pick.

DanH wrote: View PostYou know what's funny? This is all still you projecting yourself into the Raptors' front office. If the Raptors' front office had him ranked top 30, they had him ranked top 30, and there's nothing you can do to change that. Nothing they do in terms of contract status, D-League assignments or anything else changes that.
they might have said they view Powell as a top 30 guy but that isnt from long analysis just a comment. just they didnt think he would be there at #46
Again if they actually view Powell playing this year they will play him this year then they think he was a first round pick. if they develop him for a year they think of him as a second.

Tl;dr : Powell can play basketball pretty well, Raps front office had him ranked in their top 30 so got sweet value on him, and Raptors999 will never be the same after drinking Old English.
Powell is a second round pick taken second round who if the Raptors had a second first might have been taken. more about how they view Harrell, Portis and Looney than Powell imho

raptors999 wrote: View Postthere is no way to know. based on the picture of the draft bosrd last year they have targets at their draft positions and nothing else. if every PG was off the board they might have taken Powell somewhere top 30 but they took Wright an older PG that helps them right now unless they view Powell as someone to play now its unknown if they viewed him as top 30. Its a waste of time really thinking about who the 27th pick is if they are picking #20.

Raptors999.....
You're either drunk off that 40 still, or you really don't get what others see in Powell and think he's something else entirely....
Anyways, I'm really liking Powell so far. I do think that he needs time with his shot, but I also think they'll work with him on that like we did with Bruno (Notice his timing now on it. Still a bit erratic.... but better than before by miles.)Axel wrote:Now Cody can stop posting about this guy and we have a poster to blame if anything goes wrong!!KeonClark wrote:We won't hear back from him. raptors999 wrote: View Posthow the Raptor view Powell is only a couple months off. If they think he could challange DD or Ross then they got a first rounder. if they send him down to D-league they dont see him any better than Danials. then next year they evaluate DD, Ross and Powell. if they see apowell starting hes a great second if hes a bench guy a good second and if they send him to d-league hes just a typical second. there isnt any point speculating just wait and see
You send him down to improve his shot and give him more growth. Not because he's a 2nd-rounder....
Sheesh. The Raps were high on the guy, yet they want to develop him. You don't make a guy who you want to improve sit on your bench and give him only garbage time to work with.Axel wrote:Now Cody can stop posting about this guy and we have a poster to blame if anything goes wrong!!KeonClark wrote:We won't hear back from him. raptors999 wrote: View Postits why Bennett was a terrible #1 overall. nobody takes a #1 overall that isnt expected to be a starter.
Okay....
Take a good look at #1 overalls in other sports, and you'll see that not all are starters right away.
Here's a saying you need to follow: Things take time, and you can't rush it.
I'll admit Bennett was a bad pick, but I'll also admit he wasn't NBA-ready. I think guys need to actually play college ball, not just do one year and then BOOM myself. Hence why some high-school guys never panned out either.Axel wrote:Now Cody can stop posting about this guy and we have a poster to blame if anything goes wrong!!KeonClark wrote:We won't hear back from him. In Powells case he needs gym time and coaching to work on his shot, not playing against dleagers.
He had 4 years of College to play against similar talent levels.
