He is an unguaranteed contract.you don't need to have your roster trimmed to 15 until opening night. Raps could carry more than 15 through training camp.

I said this elsewhere but Raps will be able to invite him to camp and push everyone else making practices more intense through camp. Raps can give him much more money this way than through a DLeague contract.

For example, Will Cherry was a training camp invite last year with $25k guaranteed. He was subsequently cut but still got and counted against cap for $25k

As a note, when teams say they extended a training camp invite to someone, it means they signed a contract. Often they are unguaranteed or partially guaranteed to the tune of 25-50k, but they have to sign a contract to go to camp at all.
