  • Is it 3 or 4 NBA player assignments to DLeague per team? I thought it was 3?

    • I seem to remember being assured it was 4.

          here it says it's two

NBA teams can only have two players on assignment at once.

Example: Earlier this season, the Dallas Mavericks had assigned both Pops Mensah-Bonsu and Maurice Ager to the Fort Worth Flyers. If they also wanted to assign Jose Barea, either Mensah-Bonsu or Ager must be recalled to the Mavericks.

maybe you were thinking of this rule? but they must be released.

Up to three players released from the roster of an NBA team before the D-League Draft can be allocated to that team's D-League affiliate provided they sign the standard D-League contract. They are known as “affiliate players.”

It's 3, that FAQ is outdated since they changed the rules before last season.

That information may be very out of date, given that it says, "The Lakers assigned Farmar to the d-league on Saturday..." which probably means this is from about 2007. Pretty sure the rules have changed since then (even if the d-league website hasn't).

                  ROSTER FORMATION

How many players are on a D-League roster?

There can be up to 12 players on a roster. There can be only 10 active players with two inactive players. With NBA assignees there, a team may dress a maximum of 12 players for any given game.

Is there a minimum roster size during the season?

Teams must maintain a roster size of 10 during the regular and playoff season. This can change with the assignment process. As a result, no team may dress less than 8 players or more than 12 given certain assignment/call-up circumstances.

Do NBA assignment players count towards the D-League roster total?

No, teams can have more than 12 players on their roster for a given game if there are NBA assignment players included. Also, they can dress up to 12 players for a game if NBA assignees are with the team.

What happens when an NBA team without a D-League affiliate wants to place a player on assignment?

Those teams will be subject to the flex assignment system. An explanation of that is below.

Flex Assignment System: Upon receipt of an assignment from an independent NBA team, the NBA D-League will identify any NBA D-League team willing to accept the assigned player. The assigning independent NBA team will then choose the destination for assignment between those teams. If no NBA D-League team is willing to accept the assigned player, he will be assigned to one of the hybrid affiliate teams pursuant to a lottery.

Is there a limit on how many NBA players each team can have assigned?

Yes. Each team can only have three (3) NBA players assigned at one time.

As primer noted, that is old information. Anger and pops haven't played for Dallas in years.

Now I know I out wrong information out there. I has read and pretty sure linked something about 4 NBA players with no more than 2 at same position. Need to go back and search.

                  • Found error:

                    I misinterpreted....

Even odder: per D-League rules, only four NBA players can be assigned to a single D-League club at once. Of those four, no more than two are allowed per position. That makes sense for a single affiliate that is only choosing young players from one NBA team, but it's weirder when those 13 teams have to fight over which four NBA players get to go to Fort Wayne.

No more than 4 assignees per dleague team includes multiple nba teams sending players to same DLeague team.

Max raps can send to 905 is 3 at one time.

I anticipate a platoon or rotation system this year.

                      • Is there another NBA team that will have 5 players rotating through their DLeague affiliate all season? Masai is immediately taking full advantage of the new team, and I wouldn't be surprised if we assign the most DLeague minutes of any NBA team.
