    New York Knicks $55,366,567 $34,633,433
    Utah Jazz $56,560,760 $33,439,240
    Indiana Pacers $57,230,006 $32,769,994

    Los Angeles Clippers $76,290,361 $13,709,639
    Cleveland Cavaliers $76,641,961 $13,358,039
This is why I think the Lakers are a real threat to get DD. They can bring in DeMar and another max free agent, and they have a lot of talented young players.

          True.

Point was to show where the Raptors are in the available cap space hierarchy.

          .....at the bottom.

Yeah, I just knew someone would jump on and say that we can go after a 20M player to replace DD and still have the stud we draft with the Knicks pick after they slide to the bottom of the league.

And that's with the other teams doing the same thing? So Lebron, KD etc. all opted out/rescinded/whatever?

                It is only guaranteed money.

So no draft picks at this time.

                No options.

                    Surrounded by championship contenders.

The margin of error for Masai is so small it's like trying to dive into a bucket of water from 80 feet up.

                      Cleveland Cavaliers $76,641,961 $13,358,039
This is why playing above the cap is the most logical option, and as a result re-signing DeRozan, assuming he maintains his play is a no-brainer decision.

                      Like here's the reality:

We let DD walk and keep the guys we draft, we have ~$15M cap space. We then have holes at starting SG (or backup I guess if you think Ross is a starter), starting PF and backup center, we also would've lost the second most impactful player on the team. So now you're scrambling to replace him with something that could offer similar impact in another way and fill two other positions. Then when you look at the reality that someone like DeMarre Carroll (an above-average starter) cost $15M under a smaller salary cap, with less teams competing for the same players because not everyone had cap space (like they will in 2016)... and the situation gets that much more dire.

So when I see all these ideas that we can just let DD walk and patch things together and everything will be fine, I kind of chuckle to myself, because financially it's borderline impossible.

If Masai wants to let DD walk (highly doubt) or DD just walks on his own (possible), I think the best course of action at that point would be to scrap everyone minus Jonas and the prospects and start over. But there's sure as hell no quick fix where DD walks and we magically make ourselves a better team the next season.

In theory yes. In practice no because teams like Boston and Philly have much better draft pick drawers to go to than we do.

Nah, I'd rather we keep him.(better to have an asset than nothing) I just feel like it's a significant possibility.

If Masai can pull it off, he'll avoid the water completely and simply fly off into the horizon.

Kinda crazy but I think Miami has to decide between Dwayne Wade and Hassan Whiteside because they don't have Whiteside's bird rights and I highly doubt Wade agrees to a cheap deal.
