Lol he gives Casey the nickname "The Sabotager"

Anyway, hopefully they don't start slow again. That'll be key for them this game (and the rest of them)

Wait, is Scola coming off the bench?

If he's still starting, they in all likelihood will start slow again.

This is how the team has performed prior to the first substitution (breaking up the starting unit) each game this season:

          Game 1: -3
          Game 2: 0
          Game 3: +2
          Game 4: +4
          Game 5: -11
          Game 6: -1
          Game 7: 0
          Game 8: -5
          Game 9: 0
          Game 10: +1
          Game 11: -3
          Game 12: -2
          Game 13: -5
          Game 14: -1
Note: JV is injured at this point.
          Game 15: +4
          Game 16: -5
          Game 17: -8
          Game 18: -1
          Game 19: -2
          Game 20: -11
          Game 21: -11
          Game 22: -3
          Game 23: +11
          Game 24: -7
          Game 25: -4
          Game 26: +13
          Game 27: -6
          Game 28: 0
          Game 29: -7

I'd group starts into rough segments of good starts (+5 or better), bad starts (-5 or worse) and mediocre starts (-4 to +4). If you do that, you have 2 good starts, 10 bad starts, and 17 mediocre starts. That might be too loose a "mediocre definition".

If you change it to good = +3 or better, bad = -3 or worse, and mediocre = -2 to +2, then you have 4 good starts, 14 bad starts, and 11 mediocre starts.

Looking purely at positive, negative and neutral starts, it breaks down to 6 positive starts, 19 negative starts, and 3 break-evens.

Looking at the average start, you've got 29 games and a total +/- for the starting lineup out of the gate of -61, meaning an average start of -2 points before the first sub is made.

The pattern holds up no matter where in the season you look, and we've changed starting C and SF several times. DD and KL aren't moving to the bench, so there seems to be one more option for improving starts.

Our early game issues might have something to do with the fact that our current starting lineup has awful stats together.

                  http://www.basketball-reference.com/.../2016/lineups/

Only 27:59 played together, but in that time our FG% is down 13.2%, our 3pt% is down 13.6%, we score 20.0 points less than our average lineup(per 100 possessions), Our assists are down 14.8 per 100 possessions, rebounds are down 8.6 per 100 possessions.

The Lowry/DeMar/JJ/Scola/Biz lineup is just plain bad. There's no spacing. I watched the first quarter against Sacramento again, every time we put the ball in the paint all 5 purple jerseys collapsed.

Was there any reason given to why Casey put Ross back on the bench and JJ in the starting lineup? The only explanation I can think of is that JJ offers a bigger body to put at the 3 for defense, but the spacing suffers horribly.

Jonas cleared to practice is great news. DCarroll also getting closer to return is also great news.
Not so great news is that unfortunately they aren't suiting up tonight.
Cue up Bob Marley and the redemption song as Kyle makes up for the stupid move of getting ejected vs Excremento. There's that and Kyle still gets up to hand Deron Williams his ass each time they play. Biz and ZaZa are equally challenged offensively but Biz gives us more rebounding than ZsaZsa gives to Dallas. Two of Mathews Dirk and Parsons will likely give us trouble but then Demar and Kyle and yes Luis Scola in a slower paced game will give Dallas as much or more.
Xfactors tonight are Ppat and Ross giving us a better than average night from the 3 point line.
Raps come off the schnide tonight with a W against the Mavs.
There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

Every starting lineup has been bad all year.

                          KL-DD-DC-LS-JV: -4.3 net rating
                          KL-DD-DC-LS-BB: -7.6 net rating
                          KL-DD-TR-LS-BB: -4.3 net rating
KL-DD-JJ-LS-JV: +7.6 net rating (3 game sample includes Knicks and 76ers)
                          KL-DD-JJ-LS-BB: -21.6 net rating

All year, bad results (with one small sample exception).

The common denominator in all the starting lineups? KL-DD-LS -> Scola simply doesn't fit with our star guards.

The Raps need a stretch 4. A guy that can consistently knock down open 3's. Like Ryan Anderson.

Meanwhile KL-DD-2Pat is rocking a +17.0 netRTG which is scorching, and we've seen it out there for 212 minutes (~7mpg) which is enough to see that it works. Yet game after game we throw KL-DD-LS out there together in the starting 5 (-0.3 netRTG) and my only reaction is to throw my hands up in the air and say "bruh".

Like idk how this shit isn't obvious to our coaching staff.
