  • Game #49: Toronto Raptors 104 - Phoenix Suns 97

    Starting Lineups:

    Raptors

    PG - Kyle Lowry
    SG - DeMar DeRozan
    SF - James Johnson/Norman Powell?
    PF - Luis Scola
    C - Jonas Valanciunas

    Suns

    PG - Archie Goodwin
    SG - Devin Booker
    SF - PJ Tucker
    PF - Mirza Teletovic
    C - Tyson Chandler

    Key Matchup:

The Toronto Raptors' 11 game winning streak ended with a screeching halt after getting blown out by the Denver Nuggets, led by their starting center Nikola Jokic (27 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists). The Raptors struggled in the unfamiliar habitat of the Denver mountains, shooting a mere 37.2% on field goals, and 69% on free throws. Their road trip continues as they descend into the Phoenix desert, where they can hopefully catch their breath and make up for their brutal outing on Monday night. With Phoenix missing some key players in Brandon Knight and Eric Bledsoe, the Raptors look to once again assume the role of predator rather than prey.

    Keys to the game
    Effort
    Effort
    Effort

They can't play that fatigue or too tired excuse this time since they gave no effort or energy last night.

                  .......

Uhh yeah please don't lose. That Booker kid is really good but aside from that, that's a bad lineup. Chandler appears to have checked out as well.

I'd check out too, if I was playing with Archie bunker and tj hooker...or whatever

Amusing, but Devin Booker is the youngest player in the league in the league and a terrific prospect.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

Let's hope the Suns don't have the classic boost in energy/intensity that sometimes happens when the old coach is fired. This would be a terrible game to lose.

Devin Booker is a real talent though, he can play.

Agree. Nothing like having to listening to coach, at volume, after getting your ass handed to you by a team you should beat. To boot they may have lost a guy to injury during the game. To avoid having to listen to coach again I'd be ready for tonight, pretty sure the Raps will be as well.

Kyle vs Archie Goodwin.. a SG .. who is going to be playing out of position. Kyle may be at the barn early tonight.

JV looked like a cement truck on a broken axle out there against the combo of Jurkic/Nurkic and he needs to atone for that. To bad for Alex Len and the guy who used to be Tyson Chandler. Biz will bring his usual intensity and elbows to the fray. Have to like our chances of winning this matchup.

DD gets to use his drive game on the rook Devin Booker.. who is about 20 lbs lighter as well. He could get to the line tonight 10 times. DD may split the cab ride from the hotel with Kyle to get the barn early too.

Luis gets to play someone who also has the speed of a wood buffalo with snowshoes on in Mirza Teletovic. Mirza can shoot from 3 but Luis should kill him down low. PPat gets to show the GM why he is the far better option at the 4 than the disengaged Markief Morris would be.

At the SF Ross and Powell (if JJ can't go) should be able to take care of Sonny Weems and PJ Tucker.I like Tucker but he may wondering what happened to the team he signed up with who became this band of mooks.

Since the bench is starting for the Suns our bench should do well tonight against who ever is left on not on the IR.

Raps getting back in the win column tonight.

There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

I'll combine this with another of your quotes from last night

It is never ok to give less than 100% on the court.
I don't know how much basketball you watch, but no 30 min/game player in the NBA gives 100% effort most nights. So when a clusterfuck of shit play happens, effort is blamed, although players often gave the same amount of effort they usually do.

                              How about these keys.

Don't blow your rotations and give up easy buckets.
Easy on the tunnel vision. Pass the fucking ball to open teammates.
If you get open looks, make at least a reasonable amount of them.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.
