    That simply hasn't been the case. Without JV, we probably don't get by the Pacers and Lowry doesn't "find himself" this spring. We had to wait until round 2 for Lowry to get back into season's form, maybe round 3 will see Demar follow suit.
    I don't get it, is JV not apart of the team? Why would you exclude him. I'll say it again the playoffs aren't perfect. Damian Lilliard shot 35% for the playoffs and he had a couple 40 point games. Got to find a way to win. All the teams your playing are good.

      Cause JV is the player who consistently played well on both ends of the court and without him, we lose to the Pacers with how KL and DD played.

      Did Lillard stop passing or defending when he shot 35%? Nope. Good players find a way to contribute in other ways. Our team needs more of that to beat the Cavs.

        ...We should be comparing ourselves to the best and raise the expectations
        Saying what "we should" be doing is strictly subjective. "We" are fans. To say that we shouldn't be enjoying the most successful season in franchise history seems a little silly. The Raptors organization "should be comparing (themselves) to the best and (raising) the expectations," I will agree with.

        If no basketball fans can enjoy their favourite team's achievements unless they win the trophy at the end of the year, basketball quickly stops being a spectator sport. Because what rational person will continue to spend money paying for season seats, jerseys, Sports channels on TV if they can't enjoy whatever success their team achieves, but must wait for the slim chance of winning the championship?

        I would suggest that if the players can be wildly happy to be where they are so far this season, then so can I be wildly happy with their achievement.

        I can do that at the same time that I hold an expectation of continued improvement for the team because of the efforts of the Raptors organization.

        Just sayin'.

        • Wait..some of the people on this site are actually not happy with the results of this season? I'm thoroughly enjoying it and look at the trajectory we're heading if the results this year aren't enough

            Everyone on this team is playing both ends. The only player that really went off on Miami is D Wade and some random Dragic games. Everyone else was held in check.

                I'm happy with where we're at. But I was happy in my personal life when I bought my first house.

                Happy doesn't imply the job is done. I still had to fix a deck, replace the siding, build a fence, and do some interior renovations.

                I can be happy with where the Raptors are, and still not feel the job is done. The job will be done when someone wearing a Raptors jersey is holding the Larry O'Brien trophy. Until that day comes, I'm not going to stop looking for how to improve this team.

                  You can be happy with it, doesn't mean you don't want to see more/better. I'm thrilled we got where we are, I just think there are things we need to fix/improve to get to where we want to be.

                      Be honest. You'll still be digging up red flag stats even if they win the championship.

                        Not what I'm arguing

                        Rome wasn't built by looking at the city that was there and thinking the new hut was the best ever new hut

                        No, they strove to make the greatest city.

                        Horse = Expectation

                        Cart = Result

                        Don't put the cart before the horse
                        Sorry, expectations don't drive results. If you want to be that binary, it is actually the other way around: results drive expectations. For example, most expected this team to win 45-50 games and win a playoff round. Now, having won 56 games and reached the ECF, the expectations for the Raptors will be much higher next year. More will be expected of Derozan and Lowry and JV and the young players. Ujiri will be expected to add pieces to get them over the top. And, if and when they get to a Finals or (god forbid) win, then making the playoffs and winning a round will no longer be expected: title runs will be expected. And so it goes....

                        I do agree that results shouldn't necessarily drive decision-making, though sometimes they should and do. But kvetching over this organization at this moment (all the new organizational infrastructure, a roster in or entering its prime, a bevy of young players, a raft of first round picks including a top ten pick, year-over-year improvement, a conference finals, an excellent front office) looks more like sour grapes than reasoned criticism.

                          I agree. The never ending quest to improve (I'll dispense with a metaphor here ) is what keeps blogs & forums like this churning in the sports milieu. It is something we can all indulge in varying amounts as a somewhat guilty pleasure without much if any "real" consequence.
