  • Please no 12:30 pm start times for home playoff games.

Given our poor record for games starting at 1230 pm in playoffs and the fact that many Raptors employees visit this site I wanted to request that all in Raptors organization do everything they can to petition the league NOT to have any 1230 start times. Certainly TV schedule and potential ratings are factors but 1230pm has not been kind to us the past two playoff series. MU if you read this please do your magic in lobbying the league. You could argue that a later start time is better for basketball in Canada. A Saturday night tilt at 600 or 830 would allow the anticipation to build especially in Jurassic Park which would be good for the league as a whole.

Were getting early starts because were in canada so ESPN/TNT/NBATV dont get any rating from raptors fans unless they're the U.S

Agree 100%... we get the prime time slots if we matchup against a big market team... So if you want to play the 8PM start in round 1 we have to draw the Heat or Boston or the Bulls.. and we aren't getting them...we are most likely going to draw one of Indiana/Charlotte or Atlanta...

Not big market teams...so the 12:30 Saturday tip it is...

Next round we get the good start times.
There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

It makes too much sense not to. Should they start the playoffs at an arena that will have thousands of screaming fans outside? Or somewhere the early start will lead to empty seats? A team where US ratings aren't guaranteed, so prime TV hours are going to be given to bigger markets/ more popular teams.

The only way the Raps don't have an early start is if they're playing a healthy Bulls/Heat team in the first round. It would have to be a popular/revered team in a large market and 2 small market teams like the Pacers and Charlotte faced each other in the first round. That's highly unlikely.

Instead of hoping and praying for a better game time.. it would be better if the Raptors learned to prepare better for these early starts. Some teams do well in early games. Why can't the Raptors figure it out?

I mean teams in the West coast play early games all the time. It doesn't screw them up.

Wasn't there a stat that Raps actually do really well in 1230 starts? It was using regular season data but still maybe Drake can get the visitors to party it up on Saturday night.

For years teams coming into TO hated those Sunday afternoon games at 1:00 pm and Toronto cleaned up.

I don't think the Raptors organization have any say in the matter. It's a league decision.

Not sure it would be an advantage anymore since we've only had 1 afternoon game this year. And even that was a loss (January 3rd vs. Bulls).

But chances are we'll be locked in as the #2 seed with a few games remaining, which means plenty of time for our starters to rest/heal, and to start adjusting their routines to prep for an early tip.

They used to kill a lot of good teams in those starts, but they were often west-coast teams. For them it was 9:30am before adjusting for the time-change. The impact isn't as significant for other teams within the same time zone or one to the west.

Can't be the West. It ain't going to be the Lebrons for obvious reasons. The Celtics are one of the most storied franchises in NBA history with a big US tv market, so, count them out. That leaves Miami - I guess it's them. LOL. Just kidding. Raptors at 12:30 on Saturday.
