  • Ibaka

Just to get change things up a little in here, get people thinking some sunnier thoughts, I'm gonna throw out a prediction that I feel very strongly about:

Serge Ibaka will be a Raptor within two years.

Dude is completely under-utilized in OKC, and has become detached because of it (I know about this very well, he was on my fantasy team this year). And now he's become even more redundant with Kanter emerging as a legit crunch time option. But Ibaka is still a great player, and an absolute perfect fit at the 4 beside JV. IMAGINE THAT FRONTCOURT.

Masai will make this happen, mark my words.
    "Stop eating your sushi."
"I do actually have a pair of Uggs."
"I've had three cups of green tea tonight. I'm wired. I'm absolutely wired."

Masai talks about himself in the third person

ibaka has gone downhill every season for the past 4 years.

is it usage? is it the fact that he's actually closer to 30 than 26? (allegedly)

        i don't know.

That will make our front court depth with 2 30 years old big men. Ibaka and Biyombo.

Are we sure Masai is not closer to retirement?

In theory, yes but he is declining. OKC is playing Kanter over Ibaka late game, when he defends LMA. Kinda scary.

I will just say I highly, highly doubt it.

But one can pray for a DeRozan S&T for him.

Isn't there talk of Ibaka wanting a larger role on offense? That could compromise Jonas' development.

I like the idea as long as it's made abundantly clear before signing, that he's here for defensive purposes.

If OKC wants to try to continue to keep RW and KD happy (I'm under the impression that KD will be back for one more year), they may want to deal for a 2 time all-star like DD. Waiters is also a free agent so will need someone to replace him.

It may not be that far fetched. Just not sure if the money works assuming DD is looking for $25M as Ibaka only makes about $12. Just to make the math work, I believe OKC would have to include an additional $8M worth of contracts.

Ibaka+Singler+Collison for DD probably works. We'd probably need to throw in another cheap contract or pick to make it work.

If you add up the usage rates for RW, KD and DD I bet it's around 200% lol DD is the last guard on the Raps that OKC would want.

This will be a fun summer to watch on a number of levels.

If OKC can knock off San Antonio with Adams and Kanter playing big roles maybe they look at moving Ibaka? With the NBA going smaller maybe Durant gets more of their minutes at the 4 as well. ( assuming of course Durant stays in OKC).

Ross would be a good fit in OKC too......

This is all irrelevant though as Durant is signing with the raptors

On paper doesn't make sense.. but OKC may be desperate. Need to help keep their stars happy and DD might be a guy that can do that.

Not a friggin chance OKC even considers Ross for Ibaka lol

We'd have to package most of our picks for them to consider it. Ross isn't a good fit anywhere. He's a terribly inconsistent player, that is actually far more likely to give you a streak of bad games than good ones. If Serge really is declining not sure I'd want to part with a bunch of picks for him. Don't get me wrong he's definitely a good player but not THAT great imo.
