Wow guys, very tough matchup to call! Congrats to both for making it to the Finals. I hope some more votes get entered...
It's so hard for me to go against LBJ in a matchup like this, but I like Bob's overall team just a tad bit better, so I'm going to go with Bob Loblaw FTW.

ADJUSTMENT (and i think i'm off for the night as it's 3am here, so good luck!)

Kobe is easily the biggest threat to hurt the offence on either squad.
Knicks never could build 'good flow' offense with Ewing, even though they tried. High ego, pure iso player. Poor hands, tunnel vision, turnovers.Last edited by BobLoblaw; Thu Sep 1, 2016, 07:14 PM.

ADJUSTMENT:
OUR OFFENCE will feature a lot of motion; ball movement, finding open shooters, attacking interior seams. But we'll also mix it up by going at Penny. We'll run 3-1 and 4-1 p'n'r with Durant/Lebron, get the Penny switch, attack off the dribble, then drive and kick.

We have better, bigger backcourt. Better depth. Better center, offensively and defensively.
Ewing had big ego, poor hands, wanted to be the man; questionable if he won't hurt offense. Similar with some of their bench.

I don't really see LeBron being able to guard McHale. His strength won't mean much. It's not as much of a mismatch as one would think. In fact, Mchale would work LeBron if you ask me. I'll wait for a couple more posts from you guys but I'm tentatively leaning Bob.

Ultimately, we are bigger, deeper and higher IQ.
Better and bigger guards, much better anchor leads to better team defense.
Ewing was lowish IQ, turnover prone ball stopper, poor fit for them, and much of their bench are low IQ chuckers.
They can't guard McHale and lack guard depth.

Joe Dumars: 4 x 1st Team All-Defence.
Lebron James: 5 x 1st Team All-Defence.
Eddie Jones: 3 x 2nd Team All-Defence.
These are all two-way players, making their checks work hard at the other end.
Again: we aren't worried about Penny and Kobe.

If Pistol doesn't play, Jimi has just one backup guard, and any foul trouble will hurt them. Kobe and Penny are bound to draw fouls.
If Pistol plays, these should be awesome minutes for us, as he's asked to guard a very efficient, smart and skilled Mullin.

BobLoblaw wrote: View PostDumars was ok at triple teaming Jordan with Isiah and Rodman. What'll he do against Kobe here? Kobe, Penny have size advantage and skills, will cause foul trouble and Jimi has no depth.
Pistol played no defense. Mullin and Roy did, just weren't great.
Plus, peak Mullin vs. peak near-GOAT:
Pistol's numbers are skewed because no 3pt line. And as I've said, he'll play sparingly, if at all, so no point focusing on him.

Don't need another. At least one of Durant/Lebron/Frazier will always be on the floor.
Frazier/Dumars/Lebron are all-time great defenders. They'll be fine.
