It's kinda interesting that it's rare for the exact fit player like millsap to come on the market, at the most opportune time, and still many fans and some media are on the fence. Definitely it depends on price, which we don't know, so I understand the reservation.
I'd like to get millsap but I'm still leery of the defense with jv. It will improve but probably not enough imo.
I'd also really like to keep pat bc he's a poor man's version of millsap, significantly younger, great chemistry/familiarity and will cost half the price.
I'm still attracted to noel/roco as well. I think roco is really underated that he can help us on D at the 3/4, which we need both. Bebe has really played well but I don't think he's ready for serious ECF mins. Noel's age at 22 is attractive to me and I could see him grow to that level of competition, fairly quickly.
I think having jv for a 1st Rd matchup vs Drummond/Monroe type is useful, as is noel vs TT. Jv could benefit from 2nd unit looks with norm, I think. That might rekindle his spirit and up his value and/or usage.
Ross + cojo for noel + roco saves $ to resign noel, pat, Lowry. We shouldn't go too deep in the luxury but I think some luxury money is inevitable at this level.
Anyway, I know I've said this many times before but I'm revisiting it in the context of Millsaps potential price tag. There may be some benefit to buying cheap on younger players and retaining better assets for another move in the summer/future.
Personally I think I'd rather have delon and jawun Evans as cheap/long contracts than 1+ yrs of cojo at 7-8m and lose him (or get little value back) next yr. Obviously we have norm waiting for ross' mins.
A trade for Milsap is a trade to win now. As in this season because you don't know if he will be back for next season. Under those circumstances I think Ross gives you a better shot with his 3 point shooting and size to beat the Cavs. Powell might be the guy you want/have to trade.
If you threw in Wright, Korver could also be included, though it would need to be done as two separate trades to make salaries work. His 3pt shooting would replace Ross'.

I would say Ross is 100% guaranteed to be included, due to salary matching requirements, as well as what Atlanta likely wants/needs.
If the Raptors can get Milsap while maintaining 7 or their 8 key rotation players (ie: DeRozan, Lowry, Valanciunas, Carroll, Joseph, Patterson, Bebe), I don't think they'd mind giving up some young prospects (ie: Ross, Poeltl, 1 of their 2 2017 1st round picks). Sullinger hasn't played and would likely be included just for salary purposes.
Plus, the Raptors would still have Powell, Siakam, Bruno, VanVleet, and their own 2017 1st round pick. That's still a pretty young team, aside from Lowry & Milsap.

If push comes to shove I would do it but we need Korver back, some will say Thabo but we really need shooting with Ross departure. Really I hope we are pushing back with Corey instead of TR but if we arent sending back 1st rd picks etc then I can live with that deal. Worse comes to worse there has to be another shooter available for trade or pick up a guy like Gary Neal for next to nothing. I really do think if we get Millsap here with Carroll, Masai sells him on us being contenders and he gets the chance to experience the madness of our fanbase in the Playoffs that he stays.
I just think if you are Paul you arent quite at that age where you would just call it a day like you would in DEN (and less likely ORL) and accept basically just being a mentor to younger players when you still have some gas in the tank for at least the next 2-3 years. Once you have given it everything you have left, obviously get a big fat pay day for those 2-3 years then you go off into the sunset in DEN or whatever as a mentor or ringchaser. There has to be some sense of pride and desire to want to be a big and meaningful piece of a team that could win.

That link quotes Brian Windhorst, who's obviously reliable.
This was my fear, that they'd ask for 2Pat as well. For me the packages of Ross/Cory + Sully + prospect + pick are totally worth it. Losing PP as well though, even though he's a FA, takes a lot of the potential impact of the value of this deal out of it for us. The idea of PP/PM front court as an option and PP backing up PM is so potent. Giving away both Ross and PP leaves us a little thinner than I'd like. Of course this is where the bidding starts for ATL with us. Don't know why it should hinge on that though for half a year of PP for them. I mean, if they're selling PM they're not trying to "win now" ... we are. COME ON MASAI - work some magic. IN MASAI WE TRUST.
Has it been brought up in all the speculation/fantasies/rumours that if the Raps are trading for a third all star, how will the fit with Demar work? He has never shown any ability to be an effective player off the ball. How would it work?
Not to mention Casey has never really shown the ability to design an offence that effectively uses three scorers on the court together.
