If we're going for a veteran 3 & D, I'd prefer Thabo if he's available. He's playoff tested and has done reasonably well against Lebron in the past. Defended him as well as anybody not named Kawhi.
Looks like Atlanta is done selling. If they're not, then Thabo is easily the best player to target

Well, Bud said he wouldn't move Millsap, but Thabo's also going to be an unrestricted 32-yr old FA. And I doubt they're keeping 2 starting calibre SFs on the roster. They'd love to move Bazemore, but hell no to that.

      • In dream world we could dump Carroll somewhere but not bloody likely. I'd like to see if we could get something for Joseph and it would be great if we tried some type of blockbuster deal sending out JV.

        • Tucker strikes me as someone who needs consistent minutes in order to have a noticeable impact. Can't see much of a fit in our rotation.

Wonder if PHX would be interested in Joseph + BeBe for Tucker? They have the cap room to do that deal, they get BeBe (a seeming good fit to roll into Chandler's position as shotblocker and roller) cheap for a year and controllable after that, and a couple years of a moderately cheap, young PG in Joseph, for an expiring contract.

Raps get wing depth for this playoff run, and more wiggle room in the summer when they have to re-sign Ibaka and Lowry (and maybe more).
Is Bebe better than Len? Is Joseph better than Booker/Bledsoe/whichever PG they draft?

Sure, Phoenix likes PJ for the veteran presence but if that's the cost to outbid other teams who are trying to get him, that's an overpay.

No, without JV they're thin in the frontcourt again. Ibaka has never been a full-time C his entire career, they'd be back to having too much depth on the wing and not enough at the forward spots just like they were before this trade.

Why send Bebe out? Unless you're getting Chandler back somehow then no deal
To clear Cory's cap hit. Between the two you'd clear ~10M in cap commitments this summer - combine that with Ross' 10M we just saved and the pick we traded (1.5M) and you are looking at ~22M - right around where Ibaka's salary might start. BeBe is only cheap for one more year, and Poeltl is a perfectly viable backup C, especially with Ibaka-Pat lineups presumably eating some minutes.

                • Why's everybody so keen on this backup 3? We finally found minutes for Powell!

                  • Does Joseph, Bebe work for Chandler (Wilson or Tyson lol)?!

Was mentioned by an Orlando beat reporter, that Toronto is rumoured to be interested in bench shooting.

They have some value so I don't want to just dump them. Would be nice to keep pat. Gotta see them play a bit first.

I'm fine (thrilled really) to have Norm chew up all the minutes that Ross used to get... the problem is that you now need someone to take the role that Powell formerly held. Not a backup 3 necessarily but the fourth guy in the DD/DC/Powell rotation that holds down the 2 & 3 spots who plays little on some nights, not at all on a few others, but is there for security in case of foul trouble or injury.

Not a bad deal in a vacuum, atrocious deal considering they got Ibaka in the summer for a ton of assets

                              from theringer:
I mean I would say they weren't convinced that Oladipo was that good, so they figured turn him into an established guy, who should be a great pairing with Vuc. I don't really fault them for that move, although every other move they made last off season was awful.

I think we need to focus more on getting a back up SF than SG....I'd see if DEN would part with W. Chandler for maybe Sully + Joseph
