They will. He's been on the trading block multiple times in the past year already. Shame, the Hawks never learn.

Pack it up fellas. Millsap is no longer on the trade market.
Now I'm really confused. What is their angle here? Win a playoff round and hope to convince millsap to resign, and retool their way back? If that's the angle, fine, I can get behind it..but now the korver trade is 10x more puzzling than it already was...why deal him for basically a 28th or 29th pick to help cleveland slaughter you worse than they already slaughtered you the last 2 years? Watching korver drain 3s all over you in another 2nd round sweep is really gonna wanna make an aging paul millsap want to return?

If theyre really NOT rebuilding, after that horrible korver trade to their daddy cleveland, add budenholzer to the long list of great coaches that make horrible GMs

            • Gonna be another year of no move being made. As our assets continue to depreciate in value and Lowry begins to deteriorate on a mega contract. Gotta love it.

Which assets do you speak of that are depreciating?

                  Our draft picks and prospects?

A pick has more value as a draft pick than it does after you actually draft the player unless the player you draft drastically outperforms his draft spot (Powell is a good example of this). As for our prospects as they continue to not play and warm the pine, they get older and show less value in the NBA meaning they have less value in a trade. Think of Bruno. As a rookie he probably would've had some fairly good trade value as a low risk potentially high reward type prospect. Now? He hasn't shown anything in 3 going on 4 years. Value is much lower.

JV is a good example too. 2 years ago would've had sky-high value, each year he basically continues to be more or less the same player and look more out of place in the league (whether it's just Casey portraying him that way or it being the reality doesn't really matter, it's all about perception) his value depreciates.

All we're doing at the moment is paying more and more for the same or possibly even a lower quality of team. No move made this year and all of a sudden you're paying Lowry 3 times as much as you were before, Patterson probably 2-3 times as much and you aren't any better.

They're trying to get the bid price up. They obviously got a lot of low-ball offers. Still plenty of time for them, and they were smart to get the word out early enough.

It's not that surprising when you consider that Millsap said he didn't want to leave when the rumours started and that the team has won 6 in a row to move into 4th in the conference. Yes, they gave Korver away for nothing but if they can still make the playoffs then their owners are happy.

They'll throw more money at Millsap than anyone else and he does seem genuinely happy to be there so perhaps it works out for them. They aim for mediocrity and they'll be happy to have it.

But why? Why to Cleveland, who is their 2nd round opponent should they win a round. This is not insignificant. Is their some backdoor dealing with Adam Silver here?

I really believe that they intended to make some trades and take a step back (while still trying to land the 8th spot to get playoff revenues) then changed their minds after realizing that the market won't simply pay what you demand for Millsap.

Poor vision, lack of leadership - something along those lines rather than any backroom shenanigans.

                            • obvious bluff to raise offers.

                              • Once they start losing games again he'll be back on the block. I don't see how the offers would get better though.. there would be even less time on his contract.

I think he gets dealt deadline day.
