On paper and in the US based NBA National media the Timber Pups should be top 6 in the west....

Alas the games actually have to be played on the court and the Pups haven't shown much when it comes time to close out teams. In what can best be described as a choke job Minny pissed away a 13 point 4Q lead and went down for the 9th time in 13 games. They scored 12 points in the 4th total. Thats not the mark of a playoff team more like a lottery team.

Thibideau is a good coach and he has his work cut out for him...Its early and there is time to reset but its going to take a couple of 5 or 8 game win streaks to get firmly into the playoff pic for the pups...
Nobody wins in their first or second years in the league. See: jordan, michael; james, lebron.

The pups will be fine. A force by 2019. Just gotta hope they keep their studs this time around unlike the Marbury garnett days
It's Klaw Season. Time to hunt.

T-Wolves are the youngest team in the league, with still a long way to go in the season. Thibodeau has an easy job, IMO. Just be a farmer, add water and wait for harvest time. If not this year, but next season, after some trades to solidify the culture.

But then again, our beloved Final Four Raptors, with all our veteran experience is only 1 game in the loss column ahead of the super-team Knicks & Bucks, and dangerously close to being out of the playoffs.

Early observation: way too early for early observations about where teams will end up by the end of the year.

Pups are now 5 and 11 ... and while you can't get into the playoffs this early the old adage of that you can play your way out this early is staring the puppies square between the eyes.

In the next 10 game segment the pups are going to be fortunate to go 2 and 8.. They might go 1 and 9.

They get Utah, the Knicks home and away.. Charlotte away..the Spurs.. Raps away.. the Pistons...Golden State.. the Bulls and the Rockets.... Mix in 3 games in 4 days once and two back to backs during that stretch and its a pretty tough run.

If they are 7 and 19 at the end of the stretch which is entirely possible... then the puppies would need to go 35 and 22 the rest of the way just to be over 500 @ 42 and 40 which might be the minimum to get into the PO.

Hey .. they might do it... but thats a remarkable turnaround if they really stumble over the next couple of weeks..

There's a lot of overrating and being too quick to anoint in the US media. This team was one that they expected to become a playoff contender like flipping a switch with no real changes in the off season except for a coaching change and adding a rookie PG? I get coaches can make an impact, but the players have to play. They're still too young, still make bad decisions, still do not execute when it matters. It's maturity and experience and only time will remedy this.

The biggest surprise for me in the East is the Charlotte. I didn't think they'd be in the playoff picture at all. Some say Chicago is a surprise, but I had a feeling they'd be a good team. DWade may be older, but he's still one of the handful of players in this league that strikes fear into me when the Raps are playing against his team.

The biggest surprise for me in the West is the Lakers. They're playing competitive basketball. Hovering around .500 would be a great accomplishment for this team if they can keep it up. Also, they're a pretty fun team to watch.
