    Well that sucked.

Somewhere, Bryan Colangelo has a giant grin on his face.

    • I'm not too torn about last nights game. Injury bug hit hard, and on top of that we couldn't make shots. We aren't gonna win all the games, so it is what it is.

      • Underrated pickup for the Sixers has been Ersan Ilyasova. He's been terrific for them, even in games that Embiid hasn't played. He would have been a perfect fit for the Raps as the starting PF. Gotta give props to Colangelo for that savvy move.

Understandable yes, but the day after a loss still sucks. The 3 types of losses, ranked from worst to least bad:

          1. Losing a close game where you feel robbed by refs or other unlucky circumstances
          2. Losing a game to a team worse than you
          3. Playing well but losing to a team better than you

This loss had a little of 1 and a little of 2

          • If you believe the Raps are going to win between 53 and 56 games (and that's a pretty even handed bet) then they have to lose between 26 and 29 games. Some will be hard fought games (Cleveland), some will be blowout stinkers (Hawks), some will be robbery by the refs having a bad night (Sacto) and some will be from having an off night when team is tired and not at full strength (Philly).
Last night was one of those 26 odd games.
Philly has 14 wins and sits in 13th place in the standings. They have a young centre who with some help should be able to lift the Sixers to a team you would pay attention to as a team able to win a round in the playoffs in the 2019-20 season.
            Two YEARS away.
Just a little perspective for the hyperventilating over the rise of the Hinkies from absolute stinking wet dog shit to this years dry hardened dog shit that doesn't smell quite so bad. It's still dog shit though.

There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

            • Raptors biggest strength in my opinion is their depth.. and they didn't really have that last night. And Lowry kind of choked. It happens. B2B on the road is always tough. See Phoenix Suns.

Hopefully Carroll and JV will be alright. Could see a few games off for both. Horford took about 2 weeks if I recall to recover from a concussion. Glad to see Sully in the rotation finally.

              • Philly has two top 10 picks (in a draft loaded with their position of need - PG), Simmons hasn't played, plenty of cap room and two centers as trade chips. They're in a pretty good spot imo.

                  No, it really isn't.

Crazy stat: no rookie has scored more per 36 since wilt fucking chamberlain than embiids 28

He's already the best rim protector in basketball, after having a hobbled foot for 2 years where he couldn't play.
Oh, and we haven't even seen first overall point forward simmons hit the floor yet.

                      • Hinkie will have the last laugh. 3 years of utter ineptitude will be a distant memory when they're the kings of the east in 3 or 4 seasons, playoffs by next year.

And besides, when looking back later, is 3 years of winning less than 10 games any worse than endless "false hope" years the Knicks, Nets, Magic etc offer up year in and year out

i am hoping 76er dominance will get the league to fix the draft system to eliminate tanking. might take a few copycat organizations to try it first though.

We'll see. Embiid hasn't played this many games in a season in his career (he couldn't do it in college) and he's on pace for ~60 games overall. He needs to say healthy and be on the court more than that if he's going to be a star/superstar. So, we'll see. A young big with foot and back injuries isn't anywhere near a sure thing.....

And even if Embiid stays healthy, there's no guarantee him being great will be enough to actually have a great team. Don't have to look any further than the Pelicans, who have an almost identical superstar quality young C and have achieved nothing for it, even in years where Davis has been healthy.
