I know that's how it feels. and I feel you.

I don't think that's what Masai, nor his bosses Rogers and Bell will do. The telecoms are a business. They are going to put up a profitable product. That means one that is still relevant, and decent enough that it continues to capture consumer attention. It won't be tank season, BUT it will be a re-working of the team. Some players will be here. Others will leave for different pieces or picks. Likely a new coach to go with the new pieces as well. It will be a re-boot that will bring renewed interest from the fanbase. And stay under luxury tax or just at the tax level. And be a playoff team capable of going into 2nd round for the first year of re-work.

Because marginal costs for playoff games are essentially ZERO. Players nor coaches get paid more for playoffs. And media attention is at highest. ads. eyeballs. hits. We'll be competitive. We'll be in the top 8. But contending for the top? probably not likely.
