  • Scottie’s usage will go up this season, whether Pascal is here or not.

What indications did you get in Scottie's rookie year that they can't play together? I thought he and Pascal worked pretty well together. Scottie was ROY and Pascal got All-NBA. The team won 48 games.. and that was through many injuries. And they played a lot of games with no fans in the building that season.

I think the problem was that Pascal had to do a lot more than we realized because Scottie regressed last season. I was originally thinking it was because the two don't fit. But now I just think Scottie regressed and needs to play a lot better. Scottie's of course young and deserves some rope, but I'm not giving him the keys until he can at least show more than he did last year. Get back to the 2021 level of play first before we potentially make a move that we can't recover from. Especially since there are no signs at all that Masai wants to tank and do a full rebuild. I mean if he wanted to do that, then sure give Scottie everything and just go young. Be the Pistons for the next 3-4 years and hope for more lottery luck.
With no Fred to hijack the offense, we might see that happen

        Guaranteed.

Hope he's ready for it because one of the notable things last season was...and I didn't look up numbers so maybe someone will verify...but it looked like Scottie's shot attempts came further away from the basket last season. Certainly seemed to operate from further out as he started to play the role of creator. His efficiency took a really big hit as a result of it.

A new season, but looks like he'll continue to play further away from the basket again, and especially if Pascal and Jak are still here.

Amen to this… but some people with their recent posts made it sound like VanVleet’s self serving plays, his chucking shots and his inability to defend the POA were non factors to this team being a play-in fodder last season.

On the other side of their mouth would imply that this upcoming season, this team is no where close to contention after losing just one player and as if last season we where in the brink of being east contenders. Lol.

          What a hack.

His middie percentage jumped way up the last 20 games or so playing with Jak. Maybe because he knew he had to take/make that shot.

% of shots taken or % of middies that he made?

Maybe both but definitely his field goal percentage on them (which was horrible for much of the season).

Same account said he was likely to be traded. Gotta hedge those bets and you're never wrong.

I think anyone whose been paying attention would feel confident saying "Siakam is likely got getting traded" at this point in the offseason.

That guy has been pretty accurate all through free agency. Shams even reported on a potential Atlanta deal that fell threw. He's not Nostradamus. But he obviously has some intel.

Pascal not getting traded may seem obvious but it should help reduce potential trade ideas. I saw a fantasy Pascal to Chicago trade made just this morning by a poster. And the tweet mentioned a good chance of an extension. Which is again something most didn't see happening considering he could be eyeing a super max if he goes into next season and gets all-nba.

I'd be happy to see an extension before the season starts so hopefully he's got some real intel there.

                        • Not a judgement but interesting with the perspective that tens of millions of dollars in players' contracts depend on random things like this "Still, NBA commissioner Adam Silver was prepared to name him as an injury replacement, sources said. Harden just had to give assurances that he would show up and play in the game. Days went by without Harden's answer. He was pouting. By the time Harden sent word that he would accept the invitation, Silver had moved on, naming Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam as the replacement for an injured Durant." https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...adelphia-76ers

                          • Based on this I expect a Pascal extension to get done during training camp. It says Pascal is ready to sign right now.

We were waiting for Dame situation to get figured out, see if any teams get desperate and up their Pascal offer. Signing him today vs in a month makes no difference on his trade eligibility this year, he won't be trade eligible until the offseason. So no rush on our part.

I forgot where I read it yesterday where it says that the Pascal situatuion is wait and see,
if their season starts well and they see that it might work then he'll get extended,
                              otherwise he gets traded.

That's certainly an option too. We could wait until mid January and still retain the flexibility to trade him as soon as the finals are over. It's a 6 month restriction, so could wait even longer than that, but I think it would be better to have him trade eligible before free agency starts.
