I want him traded this offseason. That's my opinion. He's not that dude. He has the mentality of a role player. We're not winning anything with him as our #1 option or #2 option. And no, Siakam wasn't our second best player last year - it was Lowry.
We cant win with him as 2nd option.. literally defending nba champion with him as 2nd option..

At this point he's still a 2nd option behind Fred Van Jordan.

I mean, I know we want him to be Kawhi RIGHT NOW, but not much has actually changed other than his usage last year played to his strengths a lot more than what they've got him doing this year imho:

So what's everybody's opinion on Siakams situation. I understand he's not first option but goddamn this can't be the same guy from earlier in a year. Even with tougher d and all that shit.
Whoever is telling him to do slow ISO midrange contested floaters because he now needs to be Kawhi, needs to stop and say "I was wrong, please get back to being who you are and playing you normal game". If he was the one that decided that, he should realize that forcing himself to do that in the middle of the playoffs is not gonna help him or the team. Get back to Rico Hines next summer and try that there if he wants, but right now, get back to your normal game.

He's a 6'10" all-star that can handle the ball shoot the 3 and finish inside, while being one of the quickest PF's in this league. He doesn't need to try to be Dirk Nowitzki or Kobe. Midrange fadeways were layups for those guys, but Siakam's natural talent is different. Use that instead of trying to be someone he's not because all of sudden that's the "role" the team needs him to play. Run some pnr for the kid and let him play loose again.

Well you dont trade Pascal siakam because hes not Kawhi, durant or james. Hes not DeRozan. He likes defense, passing, hustling, and will slide forward or backward on the depth chart without complaint.

that's a keeper of a player. We just need someone else. We really need a tall shooting guard with all star ability. I'd prefer jrue holiday and have for years over Bradley Beal because he defends well.

then wed have our "billups-rip-prince-sheed-big ben" lineup. Were an all star short. Fred and Lowry is too redundant a backcourt when your wing is a specialist like OG.

Forget about strategic employment I think he's not right. Mentally or Physically. I feel like something is off. You naturally go back to what you know when games get tight. He completely imploded.

I wanted Jrue. But don't know how we make it work. Don't feel like Beal is gonna happen

Was he really the 2nd option on offense tho? lol.

FVV was their 2nd best player in the Bucks series. Siakam had a great Game 1 against the Warriors but Lowry was their 2nd best player in that series.

Kyle Lowry OVERALL was the Raptors 2nd best player last year.

Cha-ching. It feels like a sign & trade of FVV would be the best outcome for the off-season. Get some assets back that position us to make bigger moves in the 2021 off-season when a lot of pieces will be moving around the NBA. With FVV gone, next year we can get a backup PG on 1-year deal (ala, Derrick Rose, Trey Burke) and free up minutes and touches to force Nurse to develop TD.

The silver lining of the Celtics series is that we're seeing the apex of what FVV can do... he's a budget Kyle Lowry, in almost every way. The main drivers for keeping FVV have less to do with on-court performance, but rather the intangibles he brings to the culture. Hard to put a price-tag on that.

It doesn't mean shit. They didn't have a legit go to 2nd option on offense last year. They didn't have a true Robin. The 2nd option was whoever was hot. One day it was Kyle, then could be Siakam next day or FVV or Ibaka or Powell.

One thing's for sure though: Kyle Lowry was the Raptors second best OVERALL player last year. This year he's their best player...by a mile. How can anyone even argue this?

Yep. It's crazy how people are trying to re-write history. Spicy Pippen was the #2 option last year, and he was a historic sidekick.

The question was "Is Pascal a legit 2nd option (on offense)" and, yes, he was indeed the second option last year. That was especially clear in the Sixers series when Lowry and Gasol became afraid to shoot. The ball would end up in either Kawhi or Pascal's hands with 7 seconds or less left in the clock. When the offense ran out of steam, those 2 guys were our best options to get a bucket and everybody on the team knew it.

Best player is an entirely different conversation.
