That's my biggest worry. He probably looked at his boxscore tonight and was like naw this can't continue into the regular season lol.
I donno to me it looks he's really trying super hard to find his teammates and very rarely looking for his shot for pretty much the whole preseason. I think that'll get toned down a bit during the regular season (as it should because a non scoring demar kind of takes away from his strengths) but I think he can figure out a good balance and make the right play situationally.

    • Can we keep both Mckinney and McDaniels?!

We can, but McDaniels (ie both) would put us at risk of luxury tax if we keep him all season and Lowry his his bonuses. Or I think that's what Dan told me.

I'm with Dan in thinking there's better value picking up someone late in the season, especially now that OG is back. McKinnie is pretty clearly the better shooter and better player overall.

            Why? McDaniels has looked terrible.

I haven't been impressed with McKinnie either. He may look better than McDaniels, but mostly neither looks that great.

For insurance purposes, there are going to be injuries as well as more bodies in practice couldn't hurt. I prefer to keep McKinnie, he is an old rookie at 25 but he is still a rookie and his 3 pointer shot could come in handy.

But you already have OG who is ready to go. if OG was still injured then MAYBE but why pay into the tax or whatever for a player of McDaniels calibre? lol. It's not worth it. Mckinnie will be our insurance for injuries

It's not insurance if the player you're keeping has no chance of contributing.

You don't need the extra bodies in practice. We have Lorenzo Brown and Malcolm Miller on 2-way contracts as well. I'd rather scrimmage with a couple of units with a couple of subs each then try to roll out another 5-man unit of lesser talent that won't compete with our top 8-10 guys.

                  • yeah I guess we don't really need McDaniels, worse case if injuries occur we bring up Miller or just sign a couple of guys to the 905 in the SF spot that can play defense.

Exactly. Even if we had an injury to a wing player he STILL wouldn't get minutes. Let's say Demar got injured *knock on wood*, we would just move Norm to starting SG and start CJ at SF. Then OG would be the back up wing. And if one of them got into early foul trouble they would probably either play fred and move Delon to the wing or play Mckinnie. Pretty much Mcdaniels would never get minutes other than in garbage time and even that isn't for sure. So there is no point wasting that money. Oh and the biggest reason of all is HES NOT A GOOD PLAYER WHAT SO EVER lol .

                      • CJ Miles scored more in the preseason than DeMarre Carroll did during his entire Raps career.

                        • There is pretty much no reason not to keep McKinnie, don't know what you guys are on.

                          • I’m impressed of OGs performance. He is way ahead when it comes to natural talent. If he mirrors Derozan’s and Powell’s hard work, he can be special.

His defensive fundamentals is what stands out but his range though considering he still has sea legs coming off a major injury is what amazes me.

                            ....

On a negative note, if I see Siakam getting minutes over McKinnie, I would flip out. Hate to see a replacement of Curtis Joseph, frustrating player.

                            • I want C.J. Miles coming off the bench.

That’s where he can be more successful as he would provide the offensive option.

                              Powell can thrive with Derozan.
