Miles ahead - "pure" shooting on the Raptors wing

Despite his ups and downs, seems like he's still shooting the ball pretty darn well in some respects:

One of the reasons why he has remained effective is because he is shooting 46.9 percent on corner three-pointers so far this season. His accuracy on his long-distance shots after passes from both DeMar DeRozan (45.5 percent) in the first unit as well as Siakam (45.7 percent) in the second unit has been fantastic.

The 30-year-old has remained a brilliant spot-up shooter for the Raptors. He has averaged 1.30 points per possession on this play type, which is the best in basketball among high-volume contributors.

Miles has also been the most efficient player on handoffs (1.27 PPP) among those with as many possessions so far this season. As the season gets closer to the playoffs, expect the veteran to remain in a big role for the team.

And yeah, part of being a pure shooter is being willing to shoot. Kapono failed that test here.

He was still the 'purest' shooter we've had. Kapono or Peja. The question isn't about how they preformed while with the raptors, it's about how good they were at a very narrow definition of shooting.

Youre right however, Kapono was extremely disappointing. I'd add that every free agent in the Colangelo era (exception: his first year) was a disappointment. O'neal, Marion, Turkoglu, etc... all hyped up, all disappointments.

The list is Curry and Peja. No one else is worth noting. And Miles is not even close to them...he's had some pretty off years shooting. Those guys were snipers.

If you're gonna throw Kapono in there you may as well include Steve Novak. They both had really good strokes but weren't legit NBA talents.
