During his tenure with the Raptors he may have been the biggest disappointment since Hakeem.
Aw come on now, we've had SOOOOOOOO many disappointments. It's hard to pick just one.

He was still the 'purest' shooter we've had. Kapono or Peja. The question isn't about how they preformed while with the raptors, it's about how good they were at a very narrow definition of shooting.

Youre right however, Kapono was extremely disappointing. I'd add that every free agent in the Colangelo era (exception: his first year) was a disappointment. O'neal, Marion, Turkoglu, etc... all hyped up, all disappointments.

          Kapono?

The list is Curry and Peja. No one else is worth noting. And Miles is not even close to them...he's had some pretty off years shooting. Those guys were snipers.

If you're gonna throw Kapono in there you may as well include Steve Novak. They both had really good strokes but weren't legit NBA talents.

            Yup Delon Curry.

CJ is right up there. Sweet stroke and knows his spots.

            Very good court awareness.

              Dell Curry, dude.

And yeah, part of being a pure shooter is being willing to shoot. Kapono failed that test here.

I am sorry, we can not evaluate CJ Miles based on one game.

Despite his ups and downs, seems like he's still shooting the ball pretty darn well in some respects:

                      http://hoopshype.com/2018/02/27/toro...port-analysis/

One of the reasons why he has remained effective is because he is shooting 46.9 percent on corner three-pointers so far this season. His accuracy on his long-distance shots after passes from both DeMar DeRozan (45.5 percent) in the first unit as well as Siakam (45.7 percent) in the second unit has been fantastic.

The 30-year-old has remained a brilliant spot-up shooter for the Raptors. He has averaged 1.30 points per possession on this play type, which is the best in basketball among high-volume contributors.
                      ...
Miles has also been the most efficient player on handoffs (1.27 PPP) among those with as many possessions so far this season. As the season gets closer to the playoffs, expect the veteran to remain in a big role for the team.
“The side steps, fly-by things, stuff to try to keep guys honest, we worked on in the summer. Just to kinda put it on your mind, so in a game it doesn’t feel foreign. You don’t wanna be put in situations where it’s the first time you try to do something. You wanna make sure that the stuff they’re taking away, you’re just as comfortable taking the next shot, or the next move.”

I find Miles D has been better than advertised so far this season. And he is a willing passer, grabbing some nifty dimes during the games.

The stroke is looking extra pure all of a sudden, and more importantly - ultra fast! Even if he isn't the best shooter we've ever had (and I still think he might be) it's an easy argument at the moment that he's he most important.

I mean, if Kapono had actually been a good player we could have done something. If Fields hadn't been monumentally broken (sorry to even bring that up in this thread), we could have done something.

But this group with Miles has a chance to do something special.

And finally, it's all these juke-shots Miles has in his bag - shooting off the handoff and the rest of his stuff - that is really coming home to roost. I'm not convinced Dell had all this action in his shot way back when.

I don't have Dell's stats in front of me, but I remember him being way more of a consistent 3 point shooter than Miles. More of a pure shooter in comparison to Miles' streaky shooting.
