    TORONTO RAPTORS

    Projected starters

    AT

    NEW ORLEANS PELICANS

    ____________

    Notes:
    • Pelicans have yet to beat a team with a winning record
    • Rajon Rondo is working his way back after injury and should play 14-16 minutes. Tony Allen is questionable.
    • We are now 3rd in the NBA in ORatg after Warriors/Rockets, 18th in DRatg. Pelicans 18th/14th.
    • Pelicans are surprisingly 22nd in ORebounding (we are 19th)
    • The pelican can fit 3 gallons in its mouth pouch. Rondo rides in one to and from practice.
    • Pelicans have shot over 50% in 4 straight. The Raptors are now 23rd in three point shooting, Pelicans are 24th.
    • The eyebrow of Anthony Davis is harvested twice yearly to manufacture sweaters for disadvantaged South American children.
    • Pelicans are 9th in personal fouls drawn. Raps are 11th.
    • Raps are 2nd in NBA in pts off turnovers, Pelicans 19th.
    • Pelicans are 2nd in points in the paint, Raps 7th
    • The Raps are now 3rd in the NBA(!) in simple rating system, behind only the Dubs and Celtics.

Davis seems to always do terribly against the Raptors (when he plays). Hopefully that trend continues tonight.

Well last time we faced them they got really good games from their non-bigs. All their perimeter guys shot well from 3, which has actually been a weakness for their team. Holiday and Nelson combined for 41 pts and 16 ast on 25 shots.

We frustrated Cousins and contained Davis. Not sure we can be so effective against both again, but maybe we can force the rest of their crew into a worse night, especially Holiday and Nelson.

Just had a funny thought...Let's take a big leap of faith for a second and say OG in a few years will be the answer to our never ending search for a small forward. And last year's deadline we found our never ending search for an answer at power forward, he just may have been a few years too late. If we had a time machine that could fast forward OG 5 years and rewind ibaka 5 years, we'd have a contender core on par or better than the 04 pistons. Isn't that just so raptors? A day late and a dollar short

Would Ibaka have been available if he was 5 years younger?

What continues to boggle my mind is that OKC had 3 MVP candidates on their roster (plus Ibaka) and couldn't keep that core together because of $$$

Yeah in hindsight though harden wouldn't have blossomed. I wonder if okc under a truth syrum and 20/20 hindsight would have traded westbrook instead of harden. Westbrook had way more value at the time, could have got back a defensive stopper and more depth. I imagine kd is less likely to leave with harden as his guard. And, knowing what we know now, imagine harden of today playing with Durant, plus stretch 5 ibaka and the pieces of a blockbuster westbrook trade

Probably would've still been Kevin Martin....
